We’re Psyched for the New Wizards of Waverly Place Sequel!

Millennial parents will recall the fun, magic-filled, Disney family sitcom as series regulars Selena Gomez and David Henrie reprise their roles in the new Wizards of Waverly Place series.

It looks like millennials will get to “make magic” again as the beloved Disney series, Wizards of Waverly Place, is getting a reboot! Teasers came from David Henrie, who played the eldest and rule-abiding son, Justin Russo, as he posted a short video montage of all the most beloved scenes from the series on his Instagram with the caption, “Let the 🪄 sequel commence 😊”

He tagged Selena Gomez also in his Instagram story, revealing that she’ll be reprising her role as the mischievous but highly creative Alex Russo.

It seems that Justin Russo made the same choice his father made!

In the new sequel, according to Disney’s official press release, Justin Russo made the same decision as his father, Jerry Russo (played by David DeLuise). While happy with his normal life of being a dad to two sons, his life turns upside down when something happens in WizTech and a young wizard shows up on his doorstep. With that, he now takes on the mentor role—the same way his dad was with him.

Before becoming a mortal, Justin Russo was the wizard who always cautioned his sister, Alex (played by Selena Gomez), from recklessly using her powers. It even came to a point that the two—he and Alex—would fight for the full wizarding experience as shown in the Wizards of Waverly Place movie when Alex accidentally cast a spell that split her family apart!

But David Henrie has been quite mum about the rest, only posting what appears to be the script for the new Wizards of Waverly Place’s pilot episode.

Why we’re sure millennial parents are so psyched for it

We all remember at some point that every book that flew off the shelves was about magic. When The Boy Who Lived eventually became a dark wizard’s downfall, or when a wardrobe led to a magical universe, these became the basis of a millennial parents’ love for magic and the mystics. But when it was usually about the kids, the Wizards of Waverly Place tackled magic from the family’s perspective.

Disney announced to the public that the series is set to come out on Disney Plus sometime in 2024.
