Theater, Talent, And Heart: Christine Allado Lights Up The Bodyguard In Manila

Manila is about to be mesmerized by the voice of Christine Allado. The theatre actress returns to the country this September to star in The Bodyguard the Musical. Allado will take on the role of Rachel Marron, popularized by the late singer Whitney Houston.

No announcement has been made yet of who will play the role of Frank Farmer, which was played in the film by Kevin Costner.

Who is Christine Allado?

Christine Allado gained prominence in the international scene, playing the roles of Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds in Hamilton, and roles in The Prince of Egypt and In the Heights. Allado has also been part of Carousel as Julie Jordan and took part in the original West End run of Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends at the Gielgud Theater, alongside Lea Salonga and Bernadette Peters.

Allado is set to star as a lead in the West End premiere of Jo: Little Women The Musical.

Aside from Theatre, Allado, a Grammy-nominated artist, also performed with Andrea Bocelli in tours in Europe and Asia.

The Bodyguard the Musical serves as Allado’s return to the Manila stage when it premieres at the Proscenium Theater in Rockwell.

The Story of The Bodyguard the Musical 

The Bodyguard the Musical is based on the 1992 movie of the same name. It tells the story of Rachel Marron, a popular actress and singer who hires a former U.S. Secret Service agent as her bodyguard to protect her from a stalker. Rachel and Frank initially clash with each other, but later on get close to each other.

The film’s music gained popularity thanks to Whitney Houston’s renditions. Some of the songs include “I Have Nothing,” “Run to You,” and “I Will Always Love You.”

Tickets to the musical are now available via premier.ticketworld.com.ph. The musical is directed by Robbie Guevarra.
