Why We’re Proud That Sunshine Dizon Opened Up About Her Mental Health Issues

Sunshine Dizon opened up on her Instagram about her mental health. And we’re proud that she did.

It’s never easy to open a can of worms regarding mental health, especially when you’re a mother. But that’s why we’re so proud of Sunshine Dizon’s candor. She opened up about her mental health where she posted a blanket of medicines and also talked about her diagnosis. Sunshine reveals that she was diagnosed with “PTSD, Depression, panic attacks, and abandonment issues” which she adds is just “skimming the surface”.

Moreover, she was recently hospitalized, hoping that she wasn’t sick with COVID-19.

Sunshine Dizon's December 3, 2022 post about her anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds.

“There’s nothing wrong with asking for help.”

Sometimes, we tend to be hypocritical when asking for help. While we are willing to offer our help and time to others, we forget to offer ourselves the same courtesy. When this happens, we isolate ourselves from our friends and begin to drown in our loneliness. These feelings can happen to anyone. They don’t always have to be a celebrity mom like Sunshine Dizon. It can even be someone like your sister, a colleague, or your neighbor. Most of the time, people are none the wiser about it.

We’re proud that you’re breaking the stigma, Sunshine!

Acknowledging that one has mental health problems can be one of the most difficult things to do, especially when we’re aware of how quick judgment can strike. Unfortunately, there will always be people who will judge. But they are not the ones to decide things for us. Sunshine Dizon shares how it’s hard for those with mental health issues to get “stuck in our heads” but, as she encourages, “one step at a time.” If Rome wasn’t built in a day, why should we try curing ourselves in one?
