Wiji Lacsamana: The Healing Power of Mothering
In a world where rest feels like luxury, Wiji Lacsamana—a tattoo artist, Reiki healer, astrologer, and mom of one reconnects with herself through alternative wellness and tender rituals
In the creative scene, Wiji Lacsamana of the most sought-after tattoo artists, once boasting a famous waitlist that stretched for months—sometimes even a year. “It was crazy,” she laughs. “I was taking on so much—I remember feeling completely drained.” These days, she’s learned to set healthy boundaries and has since made her schedule more manageable.
The deeply personal nature of her craft led her to realize just how much energy she was absorbing from her clients. “Getting tattoos is such an intimate art form,” she says.
That realization opened a door to something unexpected: Reiki healing. A conversation with a client who was studying this Japanese practice sparked her curiosity. When that same client later offered to practice on her, Wiji agreed, unsure of what to expect.
“I just laid on the tattoo bed, and afterwards, I felt much lighter,” she recalls. “I didn’t realize how much I was carrying emotionally until that moment.”

From Self-Healing To Healing Others
For those unfamiliar with Reiki, Wiji explains: “It’s energy healing. We channel energy from the universe to balance your chakras (your body’s energy centers) and restore harmony within.”
What began as a personal healing journey quickly became a new way to nurture and care for others. As a mother, Wiji found that Reiki had profound benefits—not just for her, but for her son, as well.
“I started learning Reiki with the intention of healing my aura, but I soon realized that I could also use it to heal my son,” she shares. “Being able to soothe him with Reiki was such a gift.
It became an important skill for me as a mom.” She’s quick to note that she uses Reiki as a complementary method and not as a replacement for traditional medical care.
A Safe Space for Healing
In her sessions, clients lie down, close their eyes, and often begin with breathwork or meditation to quiet the mind. Wiji notes that each Reiki session is unique and depends on the client’s openness and energy.
“Some clients see visions; others might smell scents. For others, it’s just relaxing,” she explains. “The thing with Reiki is it will open up in direct proportion to your openness to it. If you’re blocking it, nothing will come through,” she says. The best thing you can do, she emphasizes, is to stop overthinking: “Just be open to the experience.”
Another beauty of Reiki, according to Wiji, is its flexibility. “I love doing Reiki virtually. It’s especially powerful for skeptics, because I have no idea where you are—but if you feel something, then it’s real.”
For parents, that accessibility can be life-changing. “Moms often feel like they’ve lost a sense of self,” she reflects. “It’s not that we regret having kids—we just forget who we were before them. Reiki helps me reconnect with that part of myself. It’s about becoming a happier parent, not just a better one.”

Creativity And The Cosmos
Wiji also believes that creativity is a vital form of self-care for parents. As moms, we often feel frazzled and overwhelmed. But when we give ourselves space to create—whether through Reiki, painting, or cooking— it’s a form of healing. She integrates Reiki into everyday activities: “Even when I’m cooking, I use Reiki symbols and infuse that healing energy into the food. It becomes about nourishing with love and intention.”
Another practice that deeply influences her journey? Astrology. Learning her birth chart, Wiji shares, gave her a whole new way of understanding and accepting herself. “It helped me realize: this is who I am. I don’t have to hide it or feel ashamed.”
Wiji also offers birth chart readings for kids, helping parents tune in to their child’s strengths, sensitivities, and even love languages. “The best we can do as parents is to support the highest potential of our children,” she says.
A Life of Intention
Through her practices, Wiji has cultivated a deep trust in the universe and the energy around her. “Reiki taught me that we can heal ourselves with our thoughts and emotions,” she says, adding that it’s helped her live with greater intention—not just as a healer, but as a parent.
Ultimately, Wiji’s approach to healing is about creating balance—for herself, her family, and her clients. “It is living a life of more intentionality, more gratitude, more trust in the universe.”
For Wiji, Reiki and astrology are more than healing techniques; they are ways of life. They empower her to be a more centered, joyful parent. A way to mother herself, as much as her child. “If you want to raise happy kids, they need happy parents.”
