4 Places Where To Buy Tikoy For Chinese New Year

Since the number 4 is a lucky number for those born in the Year of the Tiger, here are 4 places where to buy Tikoy for Chinese New Year.

It’s Chinese New Year and we normally celebrate it by eating Tikoy. Although we have online delivery services and shops, it’s a conundrum as to where to buy good tikoy for Chinese New Year. The Chinese stores selling them might even be piled up with requests for tikoy. Before Chinese New Year hits and to beat the rush, here are 4 places where you can buy tikoy to send out to your friends and family.

1. Eng Bee Tin

We usually order Hopia from them but they sell a wide range of Chinese delicacies, including tikoy. They’re known for adding interesting flavors into Chinese delicacies. Sometimes, their Tikoy can just be the regular one. But now, they have new flavor known as the Peanut Sesame flavor. It’s deliciously nutty especially when pan-fried in butter. Although for those who are allergic to peanuts, they have some regular flavors too. They’re available via Grab delivery and Ube delivery.

2. China Blue

Located in Conrad, Manila, China Blue’s where you want to buy more designer Tikoy. Often molded in the shape of a koi fish (usually symbolizing longevity), China Blue sells the said delicacy in four different flavors: Traditional Brown Sugar, Tropical Coconut, Red Bean, and Sweet Lemon. They also sell savory dishes if you’re looking to whip up a feast this upcoming Chinese New Year to welcome the Year of the Tiger.

3. D.E.C (Diao Eng Chay)

An old-time Chinese favorite, D.E.C has been supplying Chinese families with their delicacies in the Greenhills area for years. Originally from Manila, they now have a store in Wilson that sells Tikoy in all sorts of shapes and flavors. They usually sell in the traditional white and brown sugar flavor which either way tastes good when steamed or fried in butter. And if you’re looking to have a Hawker food-inspired Chinese lauriat, they have frozen dumplings we can steam and roast duck to serve too.

4. Canton Road

Located in Shangri-La The Fort, Canton Road offers a variety of designer tikoys. From Ninko fish-shaped ones to the usual round ones, they fill their tikoy with berries and all sorts of interesting fillings. But if your family’s trying to avoid the sugar rush because of diabetes, there’s also some Raddish Cake and Taro Cake that you can order from them. Make sure to order early though so you get it on time.

It can be hard to find where to buy tikoy

It’s hard to find places where to buy good tikoy unless you’ve been eating tikoy for sometime. Or, we’ve actually gone on a quest to find the perfect tikoy to make it the best Chinese New Year ever. But the important part about eating tikoy during Chinese New Year is spreading the sweetness and good cheer to the rest of the family. Especially after all we’ve been through, our family does need some good cheer.
