Nicole Limos-Morales: Finding Beauty And Power as an Editor

The Beauty Edit’s Nicole Limos-Morales shares how her work as a beauty editor taught her about beauty, power, and refined living.

This story first came out in Modern Parenting’s 2022 print edition.

Having been a beauty editor of a luxury magazine, Nicole Limos-Morales knows a thing or two about a refined life, with her publishing experience defining how she views luxury. “[Luxury] is ‘life at its best.’ It is as much as elegant living as unpretentious fun, worldly success as giving back to the world, status symbols as style and substance.

This belief also informs The Beauty Edit’s approach to luxury beauty with customers and brands that share like-minded values. “True to The Beauty Edit’s name, what we provide is an edit — a filter, a selection we’ve sifted through, the few from the overwhelming number of new products that we think are worth discovering, and posts we think are worth people’s time,” Nicole explains.

The fine edits and details that refine her definition of beauty

For Nicole, the devil is in the details — which she lovingly pours into each beauty box, which started out as a passion project of hers to merge her love for beauty and writing. “I’ve always felt that a beauty box is something that could help discerning beauty junkies discover new products to add to their regimen as they try and enjoy the selections in it. I have always been one of those people. Quality discovery boxes are not easily accessible in Manila. So, I thought of creating one for The Beauty Edit to share with my fellow beauty enthusiasts. After all, I live for the thrill of giving and curating collections of beauty products for my nearest and dearest,” she shares.

The Beauty Edit’s discerning approach to beauty stems from Nicole’s own personal values that translate to how she views life and parenthood. “A lot about who I am and what I believe in extends to both my business and parenting. Consistency, integrity, and service are some values important in my business and parenting. In many ways, my work and family life are similar. Both require effort, commitment, passion, and experience to flourish,” she says.

Curating beauty in a box

In her quest to provide thoughtfully curated beauty boxes, Nicole Limos-Morales hopes The Beauty Edit can help empower people to embrace their own definition of beauty, and indulge in its wonders while allowing people to look and feel their best.

“I see The Beauty Edit as my chance to showcase beauty the way I see it– how it’s always played a role in defining and refining culture, how it can affect and empower, and how it should also be fun. I love how it allows me to present beauty, often seen as frivolous and shallow, beyond the mere products which are almost always attached to a greater thing like an experience, a memory, or even an awakening,” she shares. “Beauty is also a huge part of one’s identity. That alone already presents many areas of importance and the intricacies to the world of beauty, of which we are very aware and which translates to everything we do, from the boxes we curate to the content we create.”
