Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera to Star in Family Drama Movie ‘Rewind’
Celebrity couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes are doing the movie Rewind. It’s a collaboration between Star Cinema, APT Entertainment, and Agosto Dos.
It’s the collaboration no one thought would happen. Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera are starring in the movie Rewind, which is a collaboration between Star Cinema, APT Entertainment, and Agosto Dos. The announcement was made on Wednesday, June 21, during a reveal event that Star Cinema sponsored.
Mae Cruz Alviar will direct the movie with Enrico Santos as one of the writers.
A movie pitch from 2019
During the reveal event, the couple along with Star Cinema’s Kris Gazmin, and director Mike Tuviera, were asked about the collaboration. The film will be a family drama with a touch of magic realism and second chances. Moreover, the concept was already pitched to the couple as early as 2019.
“This was actually a passion project for Dong and Yan,” director Mike Tuviera shared. “I believe it was late 2019 when it was first pitched to us.”
Mike added that a total of ten movie pitches were given to the couple until they got the script for Rewind. He even told Dingdong and Marian of the possible scenarios since they have different schedules but the two said they wanted to do the movie.
“What contributed to that is [we have] a good relationship with direk [Mike] and APT,” Kris Gazmin added. “Every time nag-uusap kami na anong next natin gagawin, our last is Isa Pa with Feelings, that was with Carlo [Aquino] and Maine [Mendoza]. And Dingdong has been a constant collaborator of Star Cinema. So when this happened, you thought it wouldn’t happened but pag-tiningnan mo, parang pamilya na kami.”
A movie reunion for the couple
Although the couple has done teleseryes and wrapped up a sitcom last year, this will be a reunion on the silver screen for them. Their last movie, You to Me Are Everything, was way back in 2010.
Marian said that the moment she got to read the script, she got hooked. “Bawat kwento sa akin, bawat paglipat ko ng pahina sa script, parang walang tapon sa script. Parang yon yung walang dahilan na hindi ko gawin especially kasama ko si Dong.”
Marian added that she has been hearing a lot of good things from Dong about working with Star Cinema and that she also hoped to work with them.
Dingdong, who has worked with Star Cinema in the past, loved the concept and script the moment he got to read it, too. Moreover, he mentioned that the projects they do now are projects their kids Zia and Sixto can be proud of.
“Sa tingin ko as an audience, makikita mo yung sarili mo sa mga characters. Bukod sa makakasama ko siya [si Marian], at makaka-collaborate ko yung mga napakahusay na creators, ang gusto namin ay sa bawat project na pinipili namin, ay maging proud ang mga anak namin.”
“Ganitong klaseng kwento at pelikula ang gusto namin ibahagi sa mga manonood. True to form, it’s a family movie, it has a heart and a touch of magic realism so talagang masasabi mo na pang pamilya talaga.”
“Sa madaling salita, ito yung pelikula na magiging proud yung mga anak namin,” Marian piped in.
Dingdong and Marian’s excitement
Following the announcement, the couple shared some of the excitement on their social media pages about the movie.
“An exciting project is in the making, and this time, I have the pleasure of working alongside my amazing wife!” Dingdong wrote. “After more than a decade, the wait is finally over as we announce our upcoming film ‘REWIND,’ directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar.”

Rewind is scheduled for release within the year.
