Encantadia 2005 Sang’gres Reunite On It’s Showtime

The original Encantadia sang’gres Sunshine Dizon, Iza Calzado, Karylle, and Diana Zubiri reunited during the Magpasikat segment of It’s Showtime.

It was nostalgic for Encantadiks from 2005 as Encantadia‘s original sang’gres – Sunshine Dizon, Iza Calzado, Karylle, Diana Zubiri reunited on stage on Tuesday, November 7, during an appearance on It’s Showtime.

The four took part in the “Magpasikat” segment, where Karylle’s team composed of Amy Perez, Lassy, and MC performed as part of the show’s anniversary.

Sunshine, a mother of two children, could not help but be emotional seeing them together again. According to the Pira Pirasong Pangarap actress, Karylle asked if they could do something together for the performance.

Diana, based in Australia with her kids and husband Andy Smith, flew in for a visit and took the chance to bond again.

“[It’s been] four years, yung huli ko na show actually,” Diana said. “And napapayag ako dahil sa pamilya. Na miss ko kayo, na miss mag-perform,” she said referring to her Encantadia sisters.

She also shared a photo of the four of them.

“AVISALA! So good to be back!”

Iza, who welcomed her daughter, Deia early this year, said that the decision to perform was a no-brainer since they’ve always been supportive of each other.

“Walang tanong tanong pa. Sabi nga ni Diana, pamilya. So nandito kami s’yempre para suportahan ang kapatid namin si Karylle. Isang tawag lang magkakapit bisig kami,” the actress said.

Iza also took the opportunity to thank the show for giving the chance for them to be together again.

“Pagmagkakasama kami kasi, feel namin may magic,” Iza said. “Kasi mahal na mahal namin yung isa’t isa simula pa noon hanggang ngayon so thank you for giving us this opportunity.”

A flashback to 2005

The last time Iza, Diana, Sunshine, and Karylle were together in a project was for the iFlix show Mystified, where they played four women with superpowers.

The appearance of the original Encantadia sang’gres comes a week after GMA announced it was working on the new storyline of the 2016 Encantadia series called Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre. The new cast of characters led by Bianca Umali, Faith Da Silva, Angel Guardian, and Kelvin Miranda will lead the new show.

Encantadia was first introduced in 2005 and derived from the hit show Mulawin. It tells the story of four sisters – Pirena, Amihan, Alena, and Danaya who became keepers of the elemental jewels following the attack against the kingdoms of Lireo, Sapiro, and Adamya by the evil king Hagorn of Hathoria.

The show would have two more spin-offs – Etheria: Ang Ikalimang Kaharian ng Encantadia and Encantadia: Pag-Ibig Hanggang Wakas. 

A reboot of the show was introduced in 2016 to a new generation of audience with Glaiza de Castro, Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia, and Sanya Lopez giving life to the four beloved sang’gres. Both Sunshine and Diana made appearances on the 2016 show alongside another cast member, Alfred Vargas.
