Miss Saigon Holds Auditions for the Role of Tam, Kim’s Child
GMG Productions, the company that brought Hamilton to Manila and will be producing Miss Saigon announced that they are holding auditions for the role of Tam, Kim’s child.
Parents whose kids want to try musical theater have a chance to be part of the popular stage musical Miss Saigon. On January 5, GMG Productions announced that they are holding auditions for the role of Tam, Kim’s love child in the show.
Auditions are from January 11 to 12, while pre-registration is until January 9, 2023. The production company is looking for kids aged 4 to 8 years old for the role.
Tam’s role has no speaking or singing lines and is only required to be still and silent during the show. No preparation is required.
Heading to Manila in March
Miss Saigon is an adaptation of Giacomo Puccini’s classic opera, Madame Butterfly. It tells the story of a girl named Kim who navigates the chaos amid the Vietnam War. What’s more, she falls in love with a G.I. named Chris and embarks on a journey to reunite with him.
The musical has become special for many Filipinos, as it launched the careers of today’s international theater stars. These include Lea Salonga, Jon Jon Briones, Joanna Ampil, Monique Wilson, and Rachelle Ann Go.
Furthermore, the 2024 production marks the return of the show to Manila since it was first staged in 2000. Original cast members Lea Salonga and Isay Alvarez will be making a special appearance. And the Manila production will start showing at the Solaire Theater in March.
