In Last One Laughing Philippines Season 2, a group of comedians faces a singular, grueling mission: keep a straight face while trying to break everyone else
In challenging times, families continuously search for lighthearted shows that bring genuine relief and warmth to the household. Let’s face it—given daily struggles, finding a reason to smile isn’t always easy. But that is precisely what Last One Laughing Philippines aims to deliver: giving audiences a much-needed break while the contestants suffer in silence, trying their best not to crack a smile.
With a diverse cast spanning multiple generations led by host Vice Ganda, how does the show bridge the gap between different comedic eras?

Immersing in Different Types of Comedy
For Vice Ganda, closing the gap requires open-mindedness and mutual learning across generations.
“All generations, we all need to learn and immerse ourselves in each other. Kasi kami, may conscious effort din kami na dapat makisabay sa Gen Z,” the comedian and It’s Showtime host shared.
“Iba ang mga terms nila, iba ‘yung mga sensibilities nila para maunawaan namin. Ganun din sila, para makisabay sila sa amin na malawak din ang kanilang mga references tulad sa pop culture kasi kung hindi, may cricket moments ka.”
Actor Epy Quizon echoed Vice’s sentiment, pointing out the uncertainty older performers face with changing trends: “Yan ‘yung kaba ng generation namin—tatawa ba sila kung gamitin namin ‘yung joke na iyan?”

Different Platforms, Different Styles
Vice further noted that what makes the competition dynamic is the variety of comedy styles shaped by different media platforms and audience expectations.
“Iba’t ibang platforms, iba’t ibang audiences ang kini-cater naming lahat. At iba’t ibang sensitivities ng generation katulad nila Charuth. Nagpe-perform sila, napapanood ko sila online, sila Donna [Carriaga]. I am not sure kung instant reaction ang nakukuha nila from the audience.”
Navigating the shift from scripted live acts to modern digital media also comes with unlearning old habits.
“Maraming bagay na politically incorrect na hinayaan kami gawin noon. So ‘yung kasanayan, ‘yung bitbit mo siya and one day, pak! Hindi na siya pwede—ang hirap din i-unlearn iyon,” Vice explained. “At the same time, dahil sa kalayaan dati, biglang isang araw hindi na pwede sabihin ito—not because nakaka-offend lang, pero because alam mo na maraming magre-react.”
Despite these evolving boundaries, Vice emphasized that every performer showed up ready to adapt and deliver their best.
