Bridget Jones’s Diary: Mad About The Boy Teases A New Trailer
The classic British rom-com movie Bridget Jones’s Diary returns with its 4th and final chapter for the movie series
For many of us who grew up with romantic comedies, Bridget Jones’s Diary was a staple for the collection and the stuff for many fanfiction writers. Bridget Jones, a working woman, who wanted to find love finally found it in the third movie — Bridget Jones’s Baby. But the fourth and final installment, Bridget Jones’s Diary: Mad About The Boy, reveals a different love story: how does one find love as a single mom of two boys?
Here’s what we know about Bridget Jones’s Diary 4!
Although the third movie ended on a high note, the fourth and final chapter starts with a heartbreaking revelation: Colin Firth’s character, Mark Darcy, seems to have died off-screen.
But the movie highlights the many struggles that widows and single moms have. Left with only the memories of her husband, Bridget Jones (played once again by Renée Zellweger) continues to navigate life as a mom of her two boys. However, her friends and family have noticed that she’s simply surviving and encourage her to “live” with all their attempts, including getting her back into the dating pool. The trailer even has one of her friends creating a Tinder account to which one of the kids overhears and asks the dreaded awkward question, “What’s Tinder?”
But as Bridget starts to find the joy in life again, a familiar face and old flame appears: Daniel Cleaver — a role that Hugh Grant will be reprising. As Bridget’s boys welcome him as Uncle Daniel, seeing how their relationship will blossom again will be interesting.
Highlighting single mom woes
While most rom-com movies reflect the happily ever after during the holidays, Bridget Jones’s Diary: Mad About the Boy (or what many of us call Bridget Jones’s Diary 4) tackles the aftermath. It’s not an uncommon occurrence when a parent, as they raise their kids and age, may find themselves alone in circumstances not of their design. While many of us are familiar with how widows tackle parenting, we rarely see how they balance it with their individual lives.
Bridget Jones’s Diary: Mad About the Boy (or Bridget Jones’s Diary 4) is set to stream on Peacock on February 13, 2025. You can watch the trailer here!
