5 Simple Life Hacks For Healthy Living
It’s true. A healthy lifestyle often includes regularly working out. However, some of us just don’t have the time due to the demands of daily life. From the terrible Manila traffic to 9-hour work days on top of homeschooling, it’s almost impossible to find time to workout.
Luckily, we found ways you can change up your lifestyle without hitting the gym. It’s all about making conscious choices to live healthier.
Here’s 5 simple changes you can make every day to live healthier:
#1: Skip the elevator
For most of us, the sight of an elevator makes feel that it’s the only way up or down. Challenge yourself by taking the stairs especially when you’re only going up a floor or two. It’s a great way to get your heart rate up and tone legs. Best of all, you don’t have to wait in line to squeeze yourself into a crowded elevator.
#2: Park farther
If you bring a car to work, don’t go for the parking lot that’s right next to your office building. Give yourself a nice walk before and after work by parking a few blocks away. You can also use this time to prepare yourself for the day or to let go of stresses work brought you by taking a few deep breaths.
#3: Drink more water
It’s pretty surprising that most people find it hard to drink water. Sweet and addicting drinks like soda, coffee, and milk tea are great. Nonetheless, drinking water is the most basic way to live healthier. While there are many ways to compute for how much your daily water intake should be, the 8×8 rule is the easiest to follow and remember. That’s drinking 8 8-ounce glasses of water a day. All in all, that’s about 2L.
#4: Pack your lunch
Office buildings are surrounded by fast food chains and convenience stores. All of which offer quick, cheap, and arguably good food at all times of the day. As a result, most of us opt to buy food instead of preparing our own. However, most of these chains intensely process their food or prepare their products in really unhealthy ways. Live healthier by bringing packed lunch to work. You can always have your favorites as well as up your cooking game at home. Best of all, you know exactly what you put into your body.
Since a lot of us are stuck at home (no thanks to the pandemic), we should make the most of it and enjoy all the home cooked food we can!
#5: Eat fruits
Set aside those chips, chocolate, and ice cream once in a while. Teach yourself to snack on fruits as a substitute. One of the perks of living in a tropical country is that we have access to delicious and fresh fruits all the time. Stock up on apples, bananas, oranges, pineapples, and the like to live healthier.
