Chynna Ortaleza Takes Proactive Approach After Undergoing Breast Check-Up
Actress and mother of two, Chynna Ortaleza, said that an accident led her to undergo a breast ultrasound and be more active about having check-ups in the fight against breast cancer.
Actress, wife, and mom of Stellar and Salem, Chynna Ortaleza, recently shared that she went to the hospital to have a mammogram check-up alongside her own mom. Chynna mentioned the check-up was one of the most important appointments she ever did.
“I made a very important appointment today and I am so happy I did! I was also able to convince my mom to get her very first mammogram,” Chynna posted on Instagram dated August 8.
“Good news! Both Mama and I are in the clear. I was also taught how to properly examine my breasts, was reminded to stay away from food that won’t help me, and to manage my stress,” she added.
Chynna reminded her followers to give themselves time and to always check how their bodies are. “Prevention and early detection are key.”
An accident that led to the check-up
Chynna decided to undergo a mammogram during a hospital check-up after her son hit her by accident. She noticed that the pain got worse. So she decided to ask her doctor what was happening.
“After a week of breathtaking contractions to my right breast, I have decided to ask my OB Doc Sally to allow me to do a breast ultrasound,” she shared in an Instagram post on August 7.
“The pain is due to trauma but guess what? We found breast nodules. Again, nodules aren’t painful. That’s the reason why they can suddenly grow without us noticing. I was advised to observe and do a repeat in six months. Apparently, some nodules come and go, women get it. It’s fine. There is no cancer.”
Despite the relief, Chynna has decided to be proactive in having regular check-ups. “Being told that these are most likely benign should not stop you from learning about what might happen or develop in the months or years to come.”
“If there was something that I learned with my fight to regain a healthy gut, It’s to listen to your body well. It communicates continuously. And going for checkups is a well-deserved exercise of self-love and care.”
