5 Reasons To Catch Dear Evan Hansen In September
GMG Productions, the company that brought Miss Saigon and Six the Musical, is bringing Dear Evan Hansen to Manila this September 2025
After Miss Saigon and Six the Musical, another musical is coming to the Philippines this September. GMG Productions announced that they’re bringing Dear Evan Hansen, one of the musicals that have become a sensation onstage.
The musical is scheduled to be held at the Theater at Solaire this September 2025, with the UK Touring bringing to life a story that people have described as “that speaks to a generation.”
While the musical was adapted into a film in 2021, it hits differently if you watch it on stage. Here are five reasons why everyone should watch it.

The story tackles mental health
The topic of depression and anxiety was taboo for years until the pandemic struck, bringing the world to a stop. The issue has become a big concern in teens in particular, and Dear Evan Hansen tackles this through the character of Evan Hansen, a 17-year-old boy who suffers from social anxiety as he navigates interacting with people in school.
Social anxiety, according to the National Institute of Mental Health, “ is an intense, persistent fear of being watched and judged by others.” This can affect many things, including work, school, and making friends.
It tackles different relationships
The musical tackles teen problems and other relationships, especially between a son and his family. It will remind parents to keep reaching out to their children, encouraging them to be the person they should be as they navigate the challenges of teenage life.

It’s a musical!
We all know that Filipinos are known for singing, and musical theater is one of their favorites. With the theater industry getting a renaissance after a brief break due to the pandemic, watching Dear Evan Hansen is for theater enthusiasts to see and bond with their family and friends.
It’s a show that teaches the importance of proper values
We have been told time and time again about the important values we should learn. In Dear Evan Hansen, Evan finds himself faced with the recognition he has always craved but falsely earned. He will be torn between being honest or keeping up with the charade.

The realization that you are not alone in your struggles
Suicide cases have grown at an alarming rate in recent years. The musical shines a light on the importance of checking on family and friends, especially when none of them talk about what they’re going through. It also tells people there’s nothing wrong with showing one’s vulnerability.
We’re excited for Dear Evan Hansen!
Fans of the musical in the Philippines will have to wait for a while, but GMG Production announced that starting April 15, 2025, tickets will go on sale for Dear Evan Hansen via Ticketworld. The pre-sale period starts April 8 to 14 for Unionbank of the Philippines cardholders or join the GMG Dear Evan Hansen waitlist at www.gmg-productions.com.
Be ready to laugh, cry, and hum this September and learn from Dear Evan Hansen.
