And for celebrity mom Elisse Joson, who has quite a busy schedule, cooking with her daughter, Felize, creates another heartwarming moment that triggers nostalgia in many of us.
Every Kid’s First Recipe: An Omelette
Most of us probably remember that the first thing we ever cooked independently is a cheese omelette. It only needs cheese, salt, pepper, and eggs and we’re good to go. From there, some of us further develop our culinary skills and create more gastronomic creations. And sometimes, it starts from building on top of the soul-soothing dish. For mom-and-daughter duo Elisse Joson and Felize, they started stuffing the cheesy omelette with some sauteéd onions, garlic, tomato, and tuna.
We’re sure the joyful light in Felize’s eyes inspires Elisse to also encourage her daughter to be more creative with her food. “I love how she’s [Felize] is interested in being active in the kitchen and learning how to cook with me,” Elisse Joson writes.
How Cooking Teaches Felize
Teaching our daughters cooking doesn’t just help them become creative and independent. It also helps reduce the body image issues that may come their way as they mature into teens. When these issues start stressing them out, it also affects their relationship with food. They do all sorts of things like trying various diet trends. But if they know how to cook, they’ll develop better ways to stay healthy. Besides, knowing one’s way around the kitchen is also an empowering competency. When Felize grows up, she’ll happily recall that her mom, Elisse Joson, made sure that she would never go hungry. Even while she’s out.
