Millennial Moms, Rejoice: A Freakier Friday Is Coming!
Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan return to reprise their roles in the 90s family sitcom classic sequel: Freakier Friday!
It seems Fate has a new adventure planned for Tess (played by Jamie Lee Curtis) and Anna Coleman (played by Lindsay Lohan). Friday just got freakier as Anna, who’s now a mom, doesn’t have a soul shuffle with her mom but her daughters too! While the grandmother and mother are confident that they’ve convinced the world during their switch, it’s a different story now with two teenage daughters. Coming this August 8, 2025, Freakier Friday just made family weekends more interesting.
How did we know? Jamie Lee Curtis dropped the teaser trailer on her Instagram, tagging Disney Studio and co-star Lindsay Lohan.

Freakier Friday brings back the humor of 90s family sitcoms
No mother will claim that her relationship with her daughter is perfectly smooth. Sure, we see the joys of twinning and mom-daughter dates on social media. But behind those perfectly curated photos are hugs, tears, disagreements, and laughter that serve as lessons. It’s a form of “good grief,” some would say. After all, a woman’s world can change in the blink of an eye.
So, what happens when daughters become mothers themselves? Some of these lessons need to be re-adapted and relearned.
It looks like it’ll be just that for Tess and Anna Coleman. In Freaky Friday, the mother-daughter duo had to navigate through a big change. With Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) marrying for a second time and Anna (Lindsay Lohan) being a teen, their relationship had become so strained that it took a Chinese fortune teller’s cookie to give them a lesson of a lifetime. By walking in each other’s shoes, they eventually came to an understanding — Tess supported Anna’s becoming a rockstar, and Anna accepted the new man coming into Tess’s life.
What’s in store for us?
Based on the trailer, two daughters will be added to the soul shuffle mix and some of the cast will be reprising their roles. One is Harper (played by Julia Butters who was Anna-Kat Otto from the sitcom American Housewife) and the other, whose name wasn’t mentioned in the trailer, is played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan who was Devi from Netflix series Never Have I Ever. But what is Freakier Friday without Chad Michael Murray who was Jake from the prequel, Freaky Friday? It looks like we’re in for a real nostalgia trip!
