Ice Seguerra Sings With His Hero Alanis Morissette
Even we parents have our heroes and for a dad like Ice Seguerra to meet and sing with Alanis Morissette, it’s a dream come true!
Even though our minds are always prioritizing our children, we have dreams beyond them. Yes, we dream about them succeeding in life but, we also have a bucket list of meeting our inspirations and favorite singers. And for Ice Seguerra, he got a bonus by singing with Alanis Morissette in her August 1 and 2 concert.
“JUSKOOOOO! JUSKOOOOO!!! JUSKOOOOOOOOO!!!! JUSKOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!” captioned Ice in a shot where he was shaking his hero’s hand.
A high from meeting his hero
The greatest compliment anyone can give an artist, writer, or even singer is to hear from a fan just how much they impacted a person’s life because of what they do. And once the high settled down a bit, Ice Seguerra began scribbling a long but heartwarming letter to Alanis Morissette, triggering some nostalgic moments when the singer came to the Philippines.
“Thank you so much for making time to meet us today. When I told you you were my hero, I wanted to let you know that Mary Jane made me feel better during rough times in my teenage years. Perfect was my companion when I felt like I wasn’t good enough. During my late 20s, You Learn made me feel like all the shit I had to endure made me stronger. Now that I’m almost in my 40s, Thank You sums up my gratitude for my life journey,” Ice wrote.
Alanis’ songs, he adds, have been inspiring him even before he became a professional singer. But it’s only now as a singer that he understands the love Alanis puts into her craft. “Since finding my way as a singer and musician, I have grown to appreciate your songs on a deeper level,” confided Ice.
Parents have their heroes, too!
We’ve always tried our best as parents to be our kids’ heroes. But who are our heroes when there’s no one to save us? Sometimes, we find our savior in their music. Like how Ice Seguerra found his hero in Alanis Morissette, we probably have heroes in other artists like Peter Cetera, Chester Bennington, and many icons. And although they don’t know us and neither do we know them personally, if ever we meet them, the greatest gift we can give them as a fan is to thank them for their heart-moving craft.
Ice is a dad to 14-year-old Amara Diño-Seguerra.
