Katarina Rodriguez: Finding Her Center
Katarina Rodriguez reveals how her motherhood journey has granted her a much-appreciated sense of peace.

Motherhood has given Katarina Rodriguez a kind of peace that allowed her to understand life on another level. Her two giggling children, two-year-old Quino and one-year-old Clara, also give her purpose and have elevated the way she thinks.
“The way I feel about my children — it’s something that I can’t explain unless you go through it yourself. The way I think, how I see people and the world, my priorities, it has truly changed a lot.”
The former beauty queen, now actress and athlete, adds that besides becoming a more relaxed, content, and centered mama, she also understands her own mom so much better. “We’ve gotten closer. She is a rockstar, so much braver and stronger than I thought she was when I was younger. I feel like she sacrificed a lot to be a good mother to me.”
Making motherhood her center
Katarina’s journey has also proven that motherhood has empowered her into the loving mom she knows her kids need. The willingness to selflessly do things for her children without a second thought is something she believes doesn’t have a logical explanation. “The love is so sudden and so instant, but so strong,” she recalls.
“I think it’s the fact that we grew our children in our own bodies for nine months and then had to go through the experience of giving birth to them. These experiences somehow turn on a switch. It’s like magic!” She adds.
Katarina explains that as a young mom with her own ideals, she is constantly fighting the urge to insist that her kids do things according to what she believes to be right or to jump in and bulldoze problems and obstacles away from them. “As much as possible, I want them to become their own persons as they learn from their mistakes,” she explains.
Enlightenment from experiences
Katarina’s realization comes from experience and one that she didn’t arrive at overnight. The former beauty queen had much to reflect on; including the many times she chose not to listen to her own parents’ or relatives’ advice.
“A lot of the things I know now are because of the mistakes I’ve made,” she reflects. “I believe that everyone should have their own experiences in life, and that’s something I want my kids to have. But if they choose to heed my advice, then that’s great!”
Ultimately, Katarina feels that motherhood gave her the wisdom and confidence to fully embrace the kind of woman she wants to be for herself and her family. “It’s opened my eyes and given me a new perspective on life.”
