Kyla Alvarez on Suffering Her Fifth Miscarriage: It’s Really Hard
During an interview on Magandang Buhay, Kyla confirmed that she had another miscarriage and shared how she draws strength from her husband Rich Alvarez, and son Toby.
Suffering a miscarriage once can be traumatic for women. But if you have been through it several times, it can take a toll on your overall health — physically, emotionally, and mentally. Singer Kyla Alvarez, known to many as Kyla, has been through it several times and sadly confirmed she suffered her fifth miscarriage last year.
During an interview on Magandang Buhay last February 21, Kyla made an appearance with her husband, former basketball star Rich Alvarez. She then admitted that the miscarriage has overall been very challenging for her.
“The biggest challenge would be giving Toby (her eldest) a sibling,” the singer said. “We’ve been struggling for years and years and years. It’s been really hard, especially very recent lang ‘yung sa amin eh. Just before Christmas actually, I suffered another one (miscarriage).”
And although it has been tough for her, she is grateful that she has Toby in her life. “Kung madadagdagan pa, bonus na lang iyon,” she added.
The “Hanggang Ngayon” singer also shared that she felt that the reason Rich was the one who was given to her was because of the support he provided throughout. “I don’t think anyone would love me like the way he loves me…and would ever love me. Feeling ko kasi mahirap ako mahalin.”
Staying strong, despite the pain
This is not the first time Kyla suffered a miscarriage. In an interview with Ogie Diaz last year, she admitted to questioning her faith and why she had to go through it four times. “Kasi gustong-gusto ko talaga ng maraming anak. Mahilig po kasi ako sa bata. Gusto ko yung nagbibigay ng pagmamahal lalo na sa anak. Feel ko po, I have so much to give,” she said.
She also said that Rich and Toby has been her source of strength. “Sobrang buti po niya. Sobrang buti niyang tao talaga. Tapos yung anak ko din, napaka-sweet. As in nung buntis ako, lahat gagawin nila for me.”
And while it has been a struggle, Kyla still chooses to see the positive side. “Talagang na-build din yung faith namin mag-asawa kay Lord. Although sometimes, it’s so hard to realize yung mga blessings that you have. Lalong-lalo na kung nasa kalagitnaan ka ng pagsubok. Kailangan intentional ka. You have to look into what you have – the blessings that you have.”
