Last-Minute Things to Do with the Family During the Long Weekend
If you still haven’t planned anything for the upcoming long weekend, here are some things you can do with the whole family!
In case you didn’t know, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared October 30 as a non-working holiday to allow Filipinos to vote in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections. Additionally, November 1 and 2 are also non-working holidays (All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day). So with the long weekend coming up, we’ve listed a few ideas for families to do — especially if you haven’t planned anything yet!
Things to Do During the Long Weekend
1. Have a staycation
A lot of hotels around Metro Manila have planned their own Halloween events. Some even offer staycation packages that you can avail for the long weekend. While everyone is out stuck in traffic or waiting at the airport, you can lounge by the pool and sip on fruit shakes!
2. Visit nearby zoos
Zoos are a great way to get everyone walking while keeping the young ones entertained. If you don’t mind the drive, head up to Avilon Zoo in Rizal. Or you can visit the newly-renovated Manila Zoo. But if the children are more into aquatic animals, there’s Manila Ocean Park!
3. Visit museums
Aside from zoos, you can also check out kid-friendly museums in Metro Manila such as the Mind Museum, Museo Pambata, and Art in Island. Visiting museums are a great way to keep those curious minds engaged.
4. Book tours
One of the best ways to get to know the beautiful city of Manila is through a walking tour. You can book a Binondo food tour to enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine with the whole family. Or you can even do an Intramuros bike tour!
5. Go on a road trip
For families that don’t mind going on a drive, head up to Tagaytay or Antipolo for a change in scenery! Both offer a selection of restaurants you can only find there.
Enjoy the long weekend everyone!
The upcoming long weekend is a chance for families to bond and take a break from the stress of work or school. It’s also an opportunity for many tired parents to catch up on rest. Whatever you decide to do, we hope you enjoy it with your loved ones.
