Lea Salonga Jams with Pentatonix for Christmas in Our Hearts
Broadway star Lea Salonga and American Acappella group Pentatonix give a fresh take on Jose Mari Chan’s classic song “Christmas in Our Hearts.”
Christmas is just a month away! American acapella group Pentatonix teamed up with some of today’s international singers, including the Philippines’ own Lea Salonga, for some classic songs. Lea recorded with the group a special version of Jose Mari Chan’s “Christmas in Our Hearts”. This is part of the group’s PTX Holidays Around the World album.
Lea Salonga: This is happening
In an Instagram post last October 27, Lea wrote of the collaboration: “Yes, folks! This is happening! Had the most wonderful time recording this classic Filipino Christmas song with @ptxofficial!”
“And yes, fellow Pinoys, this is the Christmas In Our Hearts you think it is!”
Aside from “Christmas in Our Hearts,” Pentatonix also collaborated with the likes of Meghan Trainor, Lang Lang, Hiba Tawaji, and many more singers for some of the most famous Christmas songs.
Pentatonix is set to have a tour this November to promote the album.

Timeless song
Since first performed by Jose Mari Chan and his daughter Liza in the 90s, “Christmas in Our Hearts” has become the song Filipinos sing to in welcoming the holidays. It has become part of every Christmas party karaoke performance and transcended various generations.
In 2020, Jose Mari Chan shared that he reworked some of the lyrics to reflect the subdued celebration of the holidays due to the pandemic.
