Add These Christmas Songs To Your Playlist For More Variety

Time to play some new songs that will make Christmas this year a little more festive.

Jose Mari Chan’s music has always been our go-to for Christmas songs. So, we thought that maybe to spice up our Christmas this year, we can add some other songs! There are Tagalog Christmas songs and there are renditions of the classics. Adding new songs to our Christmas playlist this year will help brighten things up especially with the pandemic still ongoing. So, here are some Christmas songs that you can add for more variety.

1. White Christmas by Voiceplay

Voiceplay‘s famous on YouTube for their five-man acapella arrangements. They’ve done a variety of songs but they have a good collection of Christmas songs, too. White Christmas is probably one of our choices since it features the whole group in harmony with the bass being the main melody. And for those who get stressed from listening to acapella, they’re actually quite gentle on the ears because they just blend so well together.

2. Tuloy Na Tuloy Pa Rin Ang Pasko by Orange and Lemons

Looking for something a little more upbeat? Tuloy Na Tuloy Pa Rin Ang Pasko by Orange and Lemons is one of the more upbeat Tagalog Christmas songs you can listen to. If you’re wondering why these singers sound familiar, it’s because they were the singers for the famous song Pinoy Ako. It’s perfect for the moment when kids start opening their gifts or when we’re enjoying some mocktails before the clock strikes midnight.

3. Violin Cover of the First Noel by Jonathan Anderson

Rule of thumb for us: instrumentals are the best kind of dining music. Nobody stresses out over the lyrics and it’s soothing. Strings are a preferred instrument of choice but piano works just as well. If you want something soothing for a quiet dinner at home, the First Noel by violinist Jonathan Anderson‘s a gentle enough Christmas song to stimulate your appetite and make your meals comfortable.

4. Piano Cover of Angels We’ve Heard on High by The Piano Guys

If the kids are passed out and asleep, maybe it’s time to relive a romantic Christmas night with our husbands. The Piano Guys‘ version of Angels We’ve Heard on High is so delicate that it can pass as a song for a slow Christmas dance. Just because we have kids doesn’t mean we should forget to have romantic moments with our partners!

5. O Holy Night by Moira Dela Torre

We’re used to hearing this Christmas song with a choir. But let’s try to remix that into something more modern. Moira Dela Torre has a little more upbeat version of “O Holy Night” which might be more appealing to your kids who want something more exciting. Besides, it’s jazzy enough for a coffee or hot chocolate date with the rest of the family while reading a book or two about Christmas.

6. Through Heaven’s Eyes by Brian Mitchell Stokes

Although not really meant for Christmas, Through Heaven’s Eyes is a song from the beloved movie The Prince of Egypt. The song was a celebration song for the Israeli way back when and it reminds us to try and look at the bigger picture. It’s a cute celebration song, too, when the kids start mauling their gifts. You can even hear how jovial Brian Mitchell Stokes is when he sings.

7. That’s Christmas To Me by Pentatonix

Another famous acapella group, Pentatonix released their song That’s Christmas To Me for something more mellow. If you’re looking for a song to set the mood for a heartwarming moment, this song’s perfect. The song talks about how family is the main element that makes Christmas so enjoyable. Nothing’s better than having a song remind us that we’re lucky that we get to spend Christmas together again this year.

8. Pasko sa Pinas by Yeng Constantino

Another one to add to the Tagalog Christmas songs playlist. Yeng Constantino’s Pasko sa Pinas aptly describes how Christmas is in the Philippines. It’s not just a tender moment with family, it’s a celebration! There’s all the food, the house is full of lights, there are gifts to be opened, and there’s family to play with. Filipinos, having a family-oriented culture, would also want something a little more upbeat to keep things going.

9. Santa Tell Me by Ariana Grande

Something for the younger ones to enjoy. It’s a good Christmas song to set the mood for the night. Ariana Grande’s a big role model as a feminist for most of our daughters but also that she’s got pipes to hit those notes. It’s bouncy, upbeat, and most of all — it’s a song kids will recognize considering Ariana Grande was from the hit Nickelodeon show Victorious and she’s unique sounding.

Add some variety to your Christmas songs this year!

We love Jose Mari Chan’s Christmas songs, don’t get us wrong. But we’re thinking of adding some extra spice this Christmas to celebrate our second year of surviving the pandemic and homeschool. It’s been a long year and although we’re tired of lockdowns, a lot of things are turning up. Anti-viral pills made to defeat COVID-19 are coming out, kids are getting vaccinated — those are things we can definitely celebrate.
