Lorna Tolentino Recalls How Late Husband Rudy Fernandez Said He’ll Marry Her
In an interview with Korina Sanchez, actress Lorna Tolentino recalled how her late husband, action star Rudy Fernandez, said he would marry her one day.
There is always that notion of finding the one person you want to be with for the rest of your life. In the case of actress Lorna Tolentino, she found her right one in her husband, the late actor Rudy Fernandez, who actually told her he wanted to marry her when she was child.
In an interview with broadcaster Korina Sanchez posted on Net25 last September, Lorna recalled the time she met Rudy when she was seven years old.
“Seven years old ako noong nakita niya ako. Tapos noong 14 years old ako, naging best friend niya ‘yung kapatid ng mama ko… pumupunta siya sa bahay tapos nakikita na niya ako. Noong adult na ‘yung mga roles namin, medyo naging close na kami,” Lorna shared.
She gave some details on how Rudy said that he plans to marry her one day. Her husband was 10 years older than her, making him around 17 when they first met.
“Actually, ang sinabi niya sa akin, tinupad daw niya ‘yung pangako niya noong pinakasalan niya ako… ‘yung pangakong pakakasalan niya nga ako noong makita niya ako noong seven years old ako. Palakihin daw nang mabuti ‘yung batang ‘yan at pakakasalan ko siya,” she said.
Lorna: Rudy taught me a lot
Although Rudy is no longer with her, Lorna said that marrying him taught her so much since they were in the same industry.
“Sa akin mas okay kasi nagkakaintinidihan kayo. Maraming tinuro sa akin si Daboy na hanggang ngayon dala dala ko,” she said.
Lorna and Rudy married in civil rights in 1983 and had their formal wedding in 1992. The couple has two sons – Raphael and Renz. Rudy has another son, Mark Anthony, with ex-partner Alma Moreno.
Lorna Tolentino is currently seen in the Coco Martin action show FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.
