Mandy Moore And Family Stays At Hilary Duff’s Home After LA Fire

Mandy’s brother-in-law Griffin Goldsmith shared on Instagram that the Lizzie McGuire star and her husband Matthew Koma have taken in Mandy and her family following the Los Angeles fires that continue to threaten the city

As thousands displaced by the Los Angeles fire that started on January 7 seek temporary shelter after their homes were destroyed, several personalities who were lucky that their homes were spared from the blaze have opened their doors to accommodate their friends and families.

One who opened their home was actress Hilary Duff and her husband Matthew Koma, who took in This Us star Mandy Moore, her husband Taylor Goldsmith, and their kids. Mandy’s brother-in-law, Griffin Goldsmith, confirmed this on Instagram, saying that many of their families have been accessing the damage to their homes after the blaze.

“Our dear friends @matthewkoma and @hilaryduff thought it wise to set up a gofundme for us to help with everything moving forward. Not to mention they are currently housing my brother’s family. They’ve taken care of my entire family from the moment this began. I will never be able to thank them adequately. This is the kindest act any human could do for another. They are the most beautiful, selfless people we’ve ever known,” Griffin wrote.

Griffin, whose wife is pregnant, could not help but be sentimental after their own place burned down.

“We’ve lost everything. 8 years of memories made in our house. 20 years of gear. My wife @quintessentiallykit was applying the finishing touches to the nursery for our baby boy who’s due in a few weeks. She had, throughout the years, poured her heart and soul into making the property a literal piece of paradise. Anyone who had the chance the visit can attest.”

Many of their friends and family were also not spared, saying that they also mourn the loss of the area they call the community.

Thank you for the help

Griffin thanked everyone who has donated at the GoFundMe put up by Mandy for them despite the criticism she got.

“I’ve never been so moved in my life. We are completely blown away. I can’t talk or think about it without crying.

“Like I said there aren’t words to describe how I feel. I’m doing my best.”

Aside from Hillary and Matthew, Meghan and Prince Harry, who live in the Montecito area, have opened their homes to their friends affected by the fire. The couple was spotted visiting an evacuation center, where they distributed food and spoke with Pasadena mayor Victor Gordo and chef José Andrés, whose World Central Kitchen is on the ground serving food to those affected by the blaze.

At least 24 have died from the blaze and will likely rise as per California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

About 150 Filipinos in LA have been displaced by the fire and have been evacuated according to Los Angeles Consul General Adelio Angelito Cruz during an interview on ABS-CBN. They are currently monitoring their status with the Filipino Workers Center.
