Miss World Philippines 2021 Tracy Maureen Perez: Losing Her Mom Early in Life
The Cebuana beauty queen Tracy Maureen Perez dedicates her project Para Kay Nanay: A Single Mother’s Journey to Love to her late mother and single moms
Losing a mother early can be painful for any child. For Miss World Philippines 2021 Tracy Maureen Perez, the pain of losing her mom gave way to her advocacy in helping single moms.
Tracy, who is in Puerto Rico competing in the Miss World competition opened up about her project called Para Kay Nanay: A Single Mother’s Journey to Love.
Tracy’s dedication to her mom
“Para Kay Nanay: A Single Mother’s Journey to Love. That’s my beauty with a purpose project and it’s dedicated to my late mother and to all the single mothers in my community,” she said during the Head-to-Head competition last week.
“Being a mother is the most important job, the most important role, yet oftentimes they are neglected. We fight so much, we talk so much about woman empowerment so why don’t we start empowering our mothers. Most especially those who go through so many difficulties having to raise their families all on their own.” she said.
Tracy mentioned that thanks to the project, single moms in her hometown of Cordova, Cebu have been provided skill training in BPO and computers skills they can use.
“It gives them hope that they can still go out there and learn new things and build a good life for their families. Because that’s what I want for them, that’s what they deserve, and that’s what I would have wanted for my mom if she was still here. That is my commitment, that is my dream,” she said.

Renewed purpose
The stories of single moms are not new in society. Many of today’s children have been raised by single parents or by guardians because of the parent’s choice to give their children better life by working abroad. They also have the right to start new lives and have a purpose in this world so let’s give them the chance.
