4 Newly-Opened Restaurants that Encourage Leisurely Meals
Every family loves to dine out. So here are four newly-opened restaurants that will definitely have something for everyone!
Eating out is on the top of everyone’s list as a favorite family activity. Whether done regularly or just on special occasions, everybody looks forward to enjoying shared meals with loved ones. After all, dining out is the perfect opportunity to catch up on the latest goings on in each other’s lives. It’s a time to make important announcements, or simply to have long and quiet conversations. Here are four newly-opened restaurants in the Metro that offer great food, a welcoming ambience, and value for money.
Mama Lou’s Premio Ristorante
Inspired by the classic Italian flavors that Mama Lou’s is known for, Premio Ristorante’s menu offers an upscale twist to dishes that are both familiar and surprising. Having opened its doors south of the Metro barely three months ago, the daily full house patronage of diners old and new is testament to its successful pull. To up the ante, diners are transported to an Italian village café once they step inside. A big arch with Boticelli’s Birth of Venus is suspended majestically in the ceiling. And to the far right is a replica of Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. Both works of art symbolize Italian elegance and artistry.
Unique dining flavors
Another brainchild of CEO David Sison, Premio offers a unique dining experience. The beautiful cities of Rome and Sicily inspire the flavors, mixed with fresh ingredients from local farmers. For antipasti, we love the Sicilian Sashimi (thin slices of salmon, tuna, and white snapper with fried capers, onions and EVO vinaigrette). For mains, the Pollo al Mattone is a must-order. This juicy whole chicken is roasted in a Valoriani oven and is served with vegetables and artisan compound butter. Another pasto perfetto is the Italian Filetto (slices of tenderloin steak cooked medium rare in nutty brown butter, garlic, and rosemary). We paired this with truffle fries and red wine. Truly satisfying! Premio also has a wide selection of pizzas and pasta but our favorites remain: Spinach and Goat Cheese Pizza and Lucio’s Truffle Pasta. Enjoy refreshing servings of gelato to complete your Italian meal with the whole family. Buon Appetito!
Average Spend: P650 to P700 per head

Mama Lou’s Primo Ristorante is located at Alabang West Parade, Daang Hari Road, Las Pińas

One World Deli
How about letting the family try a multi-sensory dining experience? One World Deli owner June Sy built three branches with the idea that each must have elements of the city where they’re located. The Makati branch has industrial fixtures to represent the financial district. Meanwhile, the Mall of Asia branch mimics the hull of a boat as it pays homage to the Battle of Manila Bay. And the newly opened cavernous San Juan branch is a reference to Museo El Deposito.
Once inside, guests can check the different stations and choose from welfare-friendly meats, responsibly sourced seafood, various specialty global brands, and organic local produce. There is a tank filled with fresh lobsters, crabs, and a variety of fish. Frozen and vacuum-sealed products can also be bought to cook at home. Additionally, there is a front-of-house chef who goes around the establishment to assist customers. The deli also has a café area! People can easily have their One World Deli products cooked on the spot. This choose and cook approach was introduced as a way for diners to enjoy the fare in-house at its freshest.

The San Juan branch can seat close to a hundred people comfortably. This includes bar seatings in the Top Tipples and Seafood Bar. Trout sashimi is a staple as well as a wide selection of steaks that can be cooked to the guests’ liking. Prime cuts are the usual choice. But the flat iron steak (an off cut) paired with steak rice is undoubtedly a palate pleaser. There is a glass wine cellar room at the far end where you can opt for an affordable rosé or a P16k bottle to share with the family. Freshly made pizzas and pastas (the signature multi-layered lasagna is a must-try!), chorizo and seafood stew, and aubergine fries are favorites, too.

Rustic Mornings by Isabelo
Rustic Mornings had its soft re-opening recently but you wouldn’t know it based on the long waiting line outside. This restaurant, after all, has a decade-long culinary legacy and diners have welcomed its return with much gusto. The new and bigger location sits just across from the old one and has the same artsy, eclectic, quirky vibe. It’s a tropical forest of sorts with lush greens and potted plants in the middle, covered patios on both sides, plus odd and ends displayed on shelves and hanging form the ceilings.
All of the kitschy copper kitchenware, shell curtains, and ceramic knickknacks come from the collection of the owner’s mother, the late painter Stephanie Baluyut, to whom the restaurant holds as its forever inspiration. The mosaic blue, white, and red tiled wall has roses in bloom and serves as another ode to Mom. A big event hall is under construction at the far end and is already looking like the perfect venue for celebrations.
Mouthwatering selections
The prodigious all-day brunch menu boasts of mouthwatering choices shown alongside enticing food photos. Everything looks AND (as we discovered for ourselves) tastes even better. You must know that majority of the dishes are made from scratch and are served in large portions. This is a place for people with big appetites! Servers are very accommodating and will tell you the bestsellers from each section.
We love the mushroom soup with toast bread, the spinach & arugula salad with apples, candied walnuts, bleu cheese and RM’s vinaigrette, and the signature spinach and artichoke dip. Best known for its waffles and pancakes, the waffle, breaded chicken with salad and french toast, egg, bacon, sausage are solid choices. Meanwhile, the Filipino platter tray (served with four eggs done to your liking plus bangus, tapa, tocino and sinangag) is great for sharing. But you must add an extra of the juicy and oh-so-flavorful longganisa to attain brunch Nirvana! For dessert, the chocolate lava, key lime pie, and frozen brazo de Mercedez make it to the top of our list. Diners can likewise enjoy healthy fruit shakes (Tropical Blend and Super Juice), milk shakes (Choco Nutella and Pure Avocado with Pearls), and coffee after their big meals.

Raging Bull Burgers
Burger enthusiasts unite! Raging Bull Burgers just opened its doors at Shangri-La Plaza Mall and diners are packing the place in droves. The flavor-forward, offbeat carnivore locale practices responsible butchery and uses secondary cuts of rump, chuck, and brisket marinated in its secret seasoning before grinding it into patties. Steak quality prime cuts from grain-fed and grassfed Australian and American beef are also in the menu along with chicken, fish, and vegan options. Prepared fresh daily, each order is charcoal grilled to perfection and placed in Scottish bread baps (sweet and golden buns) to seal the hefty meat servings and local greens. What’s more, the resident head mixologist amps up the dining experience with a variety of milkshakes, brewed concoctions (El Toro Blanco, Knockout Ale and Raging IPA), shots of bourbon, whiskey and wines.
Delicious food and cool merch
Choices include the straightforward Kickass burger (1/3 pound Angus beef with lettuce tomato and pickle), The Mighty Beast (1/3 Angus beef with bacon, aged cheddar, lettuce, tomato and pickle), and the Raging Wagyu (1/3 pound Australian Wagyu, onions, chutney, lettuce, tomato, and pickle). Remember to order a side of messy fries or sweet potato strings and you’re all set. Raging Bull mugs, shirts and hoodies are also available.
Average Spend: P500 per head
