Olivia Munn And John Mulaney Introduce Daughter Méi June
Actress Olivia Munn and actor-comedian John Mulaney welcomed their second child Méi June via surrogacy
it’s a family of four for couple Olivia Munn and John Mulaney. The two took to social media to announce that they’ve welcomed their second child, a daughter whom they named Méi June via surrogacy.
“Méi June Mulaney came into the world September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon,” The Newsroom actress wrote.
Olivia, who is currently in treatment for an aggressive form of breast cancer wrote it was a different feeling that she had to welcome her child via surrogacy.
“I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter,” the X-Men: Apocalypse star wrote. “When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, [that] I knew I had found a real-life angel. Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for 9 months and made our dreams come true.”
She added that she was thrilled that Méi was finally with them. She also explained the meaning behind the name. “[it] means plum in Chinese.”
In a separate post, John also shared a moment with his daughter.
“We stole so much stuff from the hospital. I love my little girl so much.”
Méi joins big brother Malcolm, 2, who arrived back in 2021.
Hopeful despite the challenge
Despite battling cancer, Olivia took to Instagram on September 4 to give an update, saying she was okay. She also said that she will try her best to answer questions about her experience in videos that she will be posting.
Long before the cancer diagnosis, Olivia told Vogue she was able to freeze her eggs when she John eventually wanted to expand their family. She also told People that her priority has been her son Malcolm.
“When I’m with him, it’s the only time my brain doesn’t think about being sick. I’m just so happy with him,” she told the media outlet. “And it puts a lot of stuff into perspective. Because if my body changes, I’m still his mom. If I have hot flashes, I’m still his mom. If I lose my hair, I’m still his mom. That’s really what matters the most to me. I get to be here for him.”
