Sofia Delgado-Gulliver: Finding One’s SoulGlow
Photographer turned healer mom Sofia Delgado-Gulliver shares her story on how finding her spirituality helped her become a better mom and build her business — SoulGlow.
Finding one’s role in life usually happens in two ways: either there’s a strong pull towards that particular path or something awakens within. Such is the case of SoulGlow founder Sofia Delgado-Gulliver when she encountered the term “soul maturity.” It piqued her interest, she recalls, as it led her to learning about shadow work, the Akashic Records, and manifestation. But the real journey began with a one-way trip to Siargao — an island she deems “spiritual.”
She elaborates, “I was feeling drained from my marketing job. But going to Siargao heightened my intuition. After Typhoon Odette hit, I stayed for seven days, bartering readings for necessities, which taught me to trust the process.”
The Process of Undoing and Manifesting
While many often call the process she experienced “soul searching,” Sofia reveals there was a lot more to just “learning about herself.” It was also the undoing of some karmic knots — a pattern which many energy healers such as herself see as plagues of the heart. Once the knots fell away, manifesting was the next step to ensure they never twisted again. Her mindful manifesting paid off; besides global opportunities, she found love in the form of her husband, Tom, who was a single dad of two six year olds.
“As a single mother of a 12-year-old, I was mindful of manifesting the right partner,” she recalls. “He just checked all the boxes. Our relationship progressed quickly, and within a year, we were married and had a baby.”
But Manifesting was a generous power; one that both provided, taught, and inspired. Kunwento would be the next gift it gave, empowering her to teach others how to manifest their true path.
Harnessing The Energies in Motherhood
Sofia’s knowledge of spiritual energies granted her a deeper understanding of what it means to love and “heal with a full cup.” Setting boundaries and prioritizing oneself may not be the first thing that comes to mind when it means to heal with a full cup but, for her, it’s what allows her to share her abundance with her loved ones more effectively.
“Doing so gave me a clearer sense of who I am and what I want to attract in life,” she elaborates. “It’s made embrace the parenting truth that our children are often smarter and more observant than we realize.” She then beams. “My eldest son, with his old soul and thoughtful questions, serves as my best teacher.”
After all, parenting is not just a one-way street. It’s one where both parent and child learn from one another. Discipline in their home since her becoming an energy healer comes more objectively and directly — something she says is a complete contrast from their earlier experiences. Their deeper connection with one another and a chance to guide him as he reflects behaviors and makes his own opinions are some of the fortunes she enjoys from the change in dynamics.
How The Energies Flow In Their Family
Every family has its own energy which also has its own nature; a truth that she and Tom both navigate in raising their bi-racial and blended family. Their concept of discipline is what they usually clash over about but Sofia accepts that the cultural differences are what make it so.
“It’s why we’ve agreed to handle discipline separately,” she adds. “Filipinos tend to be stricter than their Western counterparts.”
However, the same cultural diversity is also what brings them together. While Tom encourages his kids to learn Tagalog and listen to P-Pop, Sofia and her son enjoys the natural warmth and openness of her in-laws who have been giving them a hearty British welcome. It’s so invigorating and the spiritual events that happen there are both family-friendly and inspiring, she adds.
“Though, it also has its downsides,” she reminds, revealing some “opposite” encounters in some of the UK’s citizens. “Though, I think that stems from their alcohol use which the country takes quite seriously.”
She then laughs, “Also, the cost of living in the UK can be quite high: it takes me over two hours to find a Jollibee! And, I do kind of miss having a helper around.”
