The Filipino Singers Who Sang For Disney Movies

The list of Filipino artists has been growing in contributing their voices to Disney

The live adaptation of Snow White, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, has hit cinemas. Filipino actress and singer Maymay Entrata was picked by Disney to sing the Filipino version of “Waiting On A Wish” or “ Nasaan Ang Hiling.”

But before Maymay, several Filipino artists have already lent their voices to Disney’s many films. Here are some of the voices we parents and our kids have grown up with throughout the years.

Filipino artists who sang in Disney films

Lea Salonga

Lea Salonga is among the Filipino singers who have performed and voiced for Disney. She was the voice of Princess Jasmine in Aladdin and Fa Mulan in Mulan. In 2011, Lea was inducted as a Disney Legend for her contribution as an artist.

In August, Lea will return to the Philippine stage when she plays the Witch in Into the Woods.

Belle Mariano

In 2004, Disney asked no less than popular actress Belle Mariano to sing “Anong Daratnan,” the Filipino version of Moana 2’s theme song “Beyond.”

Zephanie

Zephanie was given the honor of singing the song “Hiling” for the musical fantasy movie Wish in 2023.

KZ Tandingan

Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan put the soul in the song “Gabay” for the film Raya and the Last Dragon in 2021.

Moira dela Torre

Moira was asked to sing “Reflection” for the live version of Mulan in 2020. However, marketing for the movie stopped due to the pandemic, and was released online months after.

Darren Espanto and Morissette

For Aladdin, Darren Espanto and Morissette took on the classic theme. Morissette would also return to Disney to sing “Imagine More” for the Disney Plus launch.

Janella Salvador

Janella has recorded her version of “How Far I’ll Go” for Moana. She was also present with Zephanie and SB19’s Stell when they performed for the launch of DisneyPlus in the Philippines.

Janella also performed “Happily Ever After” alongside other artists during the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong Disneyland.

Inigo Pascual

Inigo Pascual got one of his early breaks when he was tapped by Disney to sing Remember Me from Coco in 2017.

Other artists who did Disney

It’s not just the movies that Filipino artists have performed. They’ve also done special performances and TV shows. Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo has recorded for the Disney Princess Franchise with the song “The Glow” in 2014.

Maris Racal has shown her versatility not just in acting but also in singing. She sang “Simulan” the Filipino version of “Starting Now” as one of the Princess anthems.

And who can ever forget Nikki Gil? She sang her version of “Gotta Go On My Own Way” and even sang a Filipino line of “It’s A Small World” for Disneyland Hong Kong.

Indeed, they’ve become part of Disney and will continue to bring magic to kids of all ages.
