Three Noontime Shows for Families Will Enjoy Watching
July 1, 2023, goes down as the day families had something to choose from three noontime shows.
Families glued to watching noontime shows got a historic moment on July 1. It was the day when It’s Showtime broadcast on GTV, TVJ’s show aired on TV5 called E.A.T., and a revamped Eat Bulaga continued to air on GMA.
While history was made on Philippine Entertainment Television, it also showed two things – walls between TV networks are disappearing, and the audience is the clear winner.
It’s Showtime finds a new home
After airing for a year on TV5, ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime found a new home on GTV, GMA’s sister channel. Several GMA artists led by Barbie Forteza took part in the opening number live from ABS-CBN to mark the moment. Vice Ganda meanwhile taped a part of the opening number from GMA. Garbed in pink, Vice was seen flying in a helicopter from Mother Ignacia to GMA’s office in Kamuning.
The show also saw several artists who started their careers in ABS-CBN and are now part of GMA. Siblings Rayver and Rodjun Cruz, and Pokwang were delighted to be back in ABS-CBN’s studio.
Before the airing, Vice compared their situation to that of a Filipino family, thanking GMA for allowing them to be aired in a station once considered rival by ABS.
TVJ and the DabarKadas get a welcome from the TV5 family
After their departure from Eat Bulaga last May 31, Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon along with the original Dabarkads returned to television on TV5 via the new noontime show called E.A.T. It was an emotional moment for the trio as they promised to continue entertaining the audiences from Batanes to Jolo.
The show also saw the presence of their respective families in the audience. Several of the longtime viewers also came to show their support with watch parties around the country and the atmosphere of a fiesta in TV5’s office in Mandaluyong. Moreover, TV5 chairman Manny Pangilinan made a short appearance from Bukidnon during the airing. Megastar Sharon Cuneta came to support the trio as well. Her mom, the late Elaine Cuneta, is in fact the sister of Tito Sotto’s wife Helen Gamboa.
While it will take a while for many viewers to get used to seeing TVJ on TV5, it is a clear indication that they are loved and will continue to entertain the audience in the country and worldwide.
A revamped Eat Bulaga
On the other hand, Eat Bulaga is now led by actor Paolo Contis and former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno. The new hosts of the show took the opportunity to welcome It’s Showtime, calling them neighbors.
“I’ll take this opportunity, iwe-welcome ko na rin ang isa pa na nagbibigay saya. Mas nauna ‘to sa amin pagdating sa mga hosting pero ngayon kapitbahay na natin sila. Sa It’s Showtime, welcome. Dahil ngayon, kapitbahay na namin kayo at masaya kami na matatawag na namin kayong Kapuso,” Paolo said.
Isko meanwhile congratulated TVJ for their new home on TV5.
“Masaya kami, may bago na kayong tahanan. Masaya kami kasi marami nang pagpipilian ang tao. At least ang noontime show ngayon para ng buffet. Marami ka ng choices.”
“So, kaya, taos-puso, sampu ng aming mga kasama, staff, production, the management, TAPE Inc., we warmly welcome and congratulate Tito, Vic and Joey. Congratulations po sa inyo.”
The audience is the winner!
Family noontime viewing will definitely get exciting in the next few months. Above all, the audience is the winner because they now have three choices to watch. It looks like family viewing will definitely change once more collaborations and projects happen soon!
