Two Pride Events Happening On June 24
Here’s a guide to the two Pride Month events happening in Quezon City and Makati that families and allies can attend.
June is a special month for the LGBTQIA+ community as it is Pride Month. This year, two events are happening — one in Makati and one in Quezon City — on June 24. For family members and allies, here’s a look at the two events so you can march with pride to support the LGBTQIA+ community.
Metro Pride: Tayo ang Kalayaan
Tayo Ang Kalayaan happens at the Circuit Events Ground. Performers include Kween Yasmin, Lady Morgana, Nica del Rosario, Syd Hartha, and Temptation Queens of Manila.
Pride PH: Love Laban
Pride PH will be holding its event called Love Laban at the Quezon Memorial Circle. Some of the prominent faces of the LGBTQIA+ expected to participate are Sassa Gurl, Fonzi, Paul Pablo, Nica del Rosario, Naia, Precious Paula Nicole, Minty Fresh, and Markki Stroem.
Show support for the community
If this is your first time going to a Pride event, it’s okay to feel nervous about what to expect. But by showing up and showing support for a family member or a friend that is part of the community, you’re already making a big step in understanding their situation. These events are not just to show how proud they are but how they’ve come a long way since fighting for equality.
There are many organizations that teach what the LGBTQIA+ community advocates for. They will highly appreciate that you are taking the time to participate and understand their achievements and struggles.
