Yasmien Kurdi Welcomes a Second Daughter!
(UPDATED) On Instagram, Yasmien and her husband Rey Soldevilla shared updates including the decision to have a C-section birth.
Yasmien Kurdi has just given birth to her baby girl! She announced the arrival on April 28 but has yet to share the name of her daughter.
On Instagram, Yasmien shared the events before the arrival of her daughter. She also confirmed that she and her husband Rey Soldevilla opted for a cesarean (CS) birth.
“I wanted to have VBAC or normal delivery this time on my 2nd pregnancy,” she wrote. “After [a] series of tests nalaman namin na manipis pa din pala ang CS scar ko even after 11 years—not a good indication. Di na namin itinuloy because of many high-risk possible scenarios and we opted for CS the day I labored.”
Yasmien added that after a check-up, she and Rey found out that the cord was around their baby’s neck, hence the decision to undergo CS. “It was a good call that we opted [for] CS because if we tried VBAC we would have ended up doing CS still,” she said.
(UPDATE): On May 1, Yasmien revealed the name of her second daughter – Raya Layla and created an Instagram page for her.
Cesarean Delivery Saves Lives
Yasmien also shared in her post that despite misgivings people have about having a cesarean delivery, it can save lives. “A #cesarean (C-Section) is a life-saving procedure for women like me. I chose to do whatever it took to get my baby out healthy and safe!” she said in commemoration of International Cesarean Awareness Month.
Yasmien, who has a daughter Ayesha announced last December that she and Rey were having their second child, describing it as a “Year of the Dragon” baby.
Yasmien rose to fame as the runner-up to Jennylyn Mercado in the first edition of the hit reality show Starstruck. Some of her projects include the original Encantadia, Anna Karenina, and Las Hermanas.
Yasmien has been married to Rey Soldevilla since 2012.
