6 Movies That Will Make You Hug Your Teacher

These movies will definitely make you want to say thank you and hug the second parent in your life

The teacher has always been regarded as the child’s second parent. After all, it’s in school where the child learns the values aside from the parents.

Through the years, many dedications have been made for teachers and movies are no exception. Here are five movies you may want to binge-watch in your free time. Trust us, you’ll not only see them as cool people but also appreciate them more for doing their best to be educators.

1 Hataw Na

The movie starring Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano and Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres has a following not only because of the dance moves but also the issues tackled during that time. Gary plays Robbie, and Dayanara is Anna, two teachers in an exclusive school ran by non-conformist people. The school’s admin disapproves of the students’ wish to build a dance group for self-expression but with Robbie and Anna, they find a way during a school program.

The film is available free to watch on ABS-CBN Star Cinema’s YouTube.

2 Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows Part 2

All of the Harry Potter films have moments with their teachers but in Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows Part 2, this is where the teachers led by Professor Minerva McGonagall (played by the late Maggie Smith) rose to the occasion. Prof. McGonagall used her wand to cast a spell to protect Hogwarts. She along with the other professors dueled with Voldermort’s Death Eaters, making it one of the biggest moments in the film.

3 The Nutty Professor

The Nutty Professor, starring Eddie Murphy tells the story of scientist and professor Sherman Klump who invents a weight solution loss. Unfortunately, this has a side effect in the form of Buddy Love, an arrogant and obnoxious person who gets on everyone’s nerves.

A second film, The Nutty Professor II: The Klumps tackles Sherman’s family and new romance.

4 The Miracle Worker

The 1962 film tells the story of Ann Sullivan, a blind tutor to Helen Keller. Ann tries to help Helen and encounters some resistance. They later learned to connect and become close.

A TV movie of the same title was broadcast in 2000, adapted from the autobiography of Helen Keller.

5 Maestra

The 2017 film shares the story of three teachers from each generation, who want to prove what being a teacher is beyond the four walls of a classroom.

6 Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit

The sequel to Sister Act sees the return of Deloris Van Cartier (Whoopi Goldberg) as Sister Mary Clarence as she attempts to help the nuns run St. Francis High School. When Doloris overhears the possibility of shutting down the school, she turns a bunch of students into a choir to compete in a national singing contest.

Early this year, Whoopi and the cast reunited for the movie’s 30th anniversary where they performed two popular songs from the film – “Joyful Joyful” and “Oh Happy Day.”

Be grateful to the educator

Being a teacher is a tough job. Just like parents, they guide the children in their formative years. With the list of films, may it bring laughter and lessons but a grateful heart for the men and women who shape your lives.
