Yohan Santos Agoncillo Brings Home 3 Medals in Swimming!
Yohan Santos Agoncillo wins her swimming meet with 1 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze in 3 different events.
Moms will always be their kids’ number one cheerleaders, and even if they will look silly, they will trash-talk, scream, and loudly cheer as their kid crosses the finish line. The same goes for Yohan Santos Agoncillo. The eldest of the Santos-Agoncillo kids brought home gold, silver, and bronze for her swim meet and we’re sure her mom couldn’t be any prouder. Gold for butterfly, silver in 100 freestyle, and bronze in backstroke — that’s three medals for three different styles!
It’s not easy being a student-athlete
According to Judy Ann Santos, Yohan was juggling multiple things while training for her swim meet. As an 18-year-old, she’s got college applications and the never-ending school work to juggle with training. Being a student-athlete sometimes means putting aside tournaments to focus on school. But it also means dragging one’s homework to the tournament area to make sure they don’t miss out.
Yohan also made an appearance during the Ricky Lee Book Launch at CCP with her parents.
Congratulations, Yohan!
Being a student-athlete isn’t easy especially when the next critical point, college, is looming around the corner. But swimming tournaments are a good extracurricular activity that will help Yohan Santos Agoncillo make the most of her college days. Colleges might even be open to a sports scholarship with her medals now! If she chooses to join varsity, the UAAP games have swimming as a possible option. It’s truly an exciting time for Yohan and her family.
