Ava Daza Zanirato: The Joys of Being a Boy Mom
While juggling a thriving business and a podcast, Ava Daza Zanirato is relishing another hat she is wearing – being a boy mom.
This story about Ava Daza Zanirato appeared in the Modern Parenting Mother’s Day and Father’s Day May 2024 issue.
Ava Daza Zanirato was at the height of her pregnancy when she released her much talked-about podcast, with her sister Isabelle. While not one to shy away from changes, big and small, being a new mom added a different dimension to her persona, as she took on the challenge of balancing work and motherhood.
Now as her son, Leonardo, turns two, it would seem that Ava has settled into being a mother, while enjoying the journey of being a boy mom. “I love being a boy mom so much! I love Leo’s energy all the time. I love being rough with him but also makes my heart melt to see how gentle he can be. We get super silly together and act as if we are going on adventures every second of the day. Everything about being a boy mom feels like it was meant to be for me,” Ava gushes.
Appreciating Her Mom
Ava looks forward to this year’s Mother’s Day celebration as Leo enters his toddler phase. “Mother’s Day this year feels extra special because now that Leonardo is talking, I feel I’ve been forming a deep bond with him that I never knew before, and it makes me feel even more thankful that I get to be his mama. It’s the best role I have and I’m happy to celebrate it,” she shares.
While Ava approaches life and motherhood with zest and fervor, there are things that she appreciates more now, especially with the way she was raised by her mother, Gloria Diaz, and the precautions she took with her.
“I get it now because before, I felt like all her rules didn’t make sense. Now as a mom, I understand why she’s so afraid of anything I do that’s kind of risky. She’d be like, ‘Be careful,’ or she wouldn’t want me to go on these excursions and field trips and sleepovers. But now, as a mom, I struggle with thinking like, ‘Okay, let him go out with his cousins. Let him enjoy being out of the house for the whole day,’ versus, ‘My God, what if he’s been swimming for too long? He might get sick,” she explains.
A Mother’s Wish
As she goes through the motions of parenthood and watches Leo grow up, there are things she would want him to understand as he gets older. “I want to [tell him], ‘Bear with me, I’m learning as I go.’ But I do want to be able to give him enough freedom to make decisions in his own life, yet still guide him. I know I will make mistakes, but at least he’ll always know my intention is just to give him the best life possible,” she ends.
