Why BBC’s Show Numberblocks is a Hit with Kids!

The British Broadcasting Channel’s kid show Numberblocks is earning a lot of kid fans worldwide for its fun approach to Math!

One of the first lessons we learn is our ABCs and 123s. And while there have been shows that teach and show these lessons, the educational world continues to evolve. The British Broadcasting Channel (BBC) has launched its latest educational show teaching kids numbers, colors, and letters. The kids learn the numbers through Numberblocks.

What is Numberblocks?

Numberblocks, according to its website is a “step-by-step learning journey grouped neatly into five color-coded levels.” Each level basically introduces a great number and sequences. Numberblocks uses visual teaching techniques aligned to the Early Year Foundation Stage (EYFS).

The people behind Numberblocks also work closely with the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics to make sure that in every episode, kids will have confidence and understanding in tackling Math ideas.

Who are the Numberblocks crew?

The Numberblocks crew is comprised of the basic numbers with their own distinct personalities. They are:

One is the smallest block and is described as “the bravest, has lots of ideas, and is always first to come up with a plan.”

Two is described as the friend always there for you. He also loves to dance.

Three is often the entertainer. She loves telling stories and performing tricks.

Four is another friendly block. He’s ready to help and loves to laugh with his friends.

Five is considered the leader of the pack and is one of the most cheerful of the bunch.

Six loves to roll her magic dice and plays with everyone.

Seven is the rainbow-colored block of the bunch. When number seven is around, everything becomes fine.

Eight is the superhero Octoblock. For him to move, he changes into different shapes and gets a special power every time he changes. He also wears a mask.

Nine is the gray-colored block. He often sneezes a lot so he carries with him nine hankies.

Ten is described as the “amazing” one. She is red and white and has starry eyes. She can also turn into a rocket and blast off into space!

A growing audience of kids!

The Numberblocks series is available on YouTube and broadcast around the world. It has been gaining a lot of kid audiences thanks to its educational and fun approach to doing numbers. It has become so popular that its merchandise is also bought by parents for their kids as an introduction to basic counting and stacking.

On top of the episodes, Numberblocks has introduced many activities on its website as well. From coloring to baking, Numberblocks is teaching everyone that numbers can be fun.
