Coffee Date Places Parents Will Love For Valentine’s Day
If lunch and dinner restos are full for Valentine’s Day, how about a coffee date at a café instead?
A coffee date can just be as romantic as a Valentine’s Day date. It may not be as fancy as having wine paired with a steak but the rusticness and simplicity of a café does have its charms. The casual decor, the lack of pressure to know how fine dining works, and the classic dishes and coffee creations — it’s a lot less stressful for some and maybe better for those who prefer the contemporary, metropolitan-type romance. So, here are some places to go for a coffee date for Valentine’s Day:

UCC Clockwork
UCC has themes for their cafés and for those who would like a coffee date in London, UCC Clockwork may be the one just for you! Surrounded by clocks showcasing the different times in different countries, it creates a streetside café experience which, let’s be honest, is how most romances start in rom-com movies. Some favorites include the Sumiyaki Coffee which has a nice sweet but smoky flavor from roasting the beans over charcoal and the zesty and refreshing Mazagran — an espresso mixed with lemon juice and rosemary water.
UCC Clockwork has multiple branches.

Hoshino Coffee
Recently opened in Greenhills Mall, Hoshino Coffee kind of reminds us of a coffee shop in Japan where there are “butlers” that serve a hearty curry omurice and freshly brewed coffee. Unlike most coffee shops in the metro, they focus more on drip coffee which sets the mood for a long and interesting conversation before finally taking a sip from the coffee. For food, their Beef Curry is pretty good and to top it off — try one of their signature coffee roasts!
Hoshino Café has three branches with the latest one at GH Mall, G/F Ortigas Ave, San Juan, Metro Manila. Their other two are in Opus Mall and Greenbelt 3.

Brewing Point
After earning a name for itself among families in Fairview and Congressional as a coffee date spot, Brewing Point eventually established a branch at Fisher Mall where they also hold small performances for couples who love watching live, indie singers. While they serve hot food, their desserts are more likely to capture someone’s heart. Their Chocolate Lava Cake goes sinfully well with their Salted Caramel Latté. So, if you’re looking for something similar to Friends’ Central Perk café, Brewing Point will suffice.
Brewing Point has two branches with the aforementioned currently at 325, Fisher Mall, Quezon Ave, District 1, Quezon City, 1104 Metro Manila.

Seven O’Clock Café
Small and hidden, the Seven O’ Clock café lies on the corner of Scout Castor Street with its sibling restaurant: Mad Crab PH. But what we like about the place is that the size of the café makes it feel more intimate compared to the bigger ones. While they offer unlimited wings, pasta, and steak for dinner if we’re looking to stuff ourselves silly, their coffee is what we’re there for. For those craving Horchata, their signature Cinnamon Oat Latté can settle the urge. But they also have some classics like the creamy and strong Affogato al’Café.
Seven O’Clock Café is currently located at 105 Sct. Castor St, Diliman, Quezon City, 1103 Metro Manila.

Candid Coffee
While Candid Coffee has two branches, the more coffee-date-worthy one is in BGC. But if we’re the more on-the-go type then, either branch — V Mall or BGC — will do!
What we love about their coffee selections is that they have some creations that are usually limited edition in other cafés. Plus, we get a laugh at reading their descriptions! Their Toffee Nut Latté is perfect for those who are not in the mood to wait until Christmas to get their fix and their Horchata (which can be mixed with an espresso and has a vegan option) is to die for.
Candid Coffee BGC is currently located at Avida Towers Turf 9th Ave, Lane S.

Café Roo
Live out your K-Drama coffee date dreams at Café Roo! Although there are some stairs to climb, their drinks and pastries make it worth it. Their drinks are often served in a double-walled glass for dine-in and the café itself has an airy-looking and relaxing tropical interior. They have two kinds of frappés — coffee-based and non-coffee-based — which makes the place a bit kid-friendly too. We’re pretty fond of their Coffee Jelly Frappé and their White Mocha Cream. Don’t forget to order a pastry to go!
Café Roo has two branches:
- 232 Tomas Morato Ave, Scout Borromeo St, Quezon City, 1103 Metro Manila
- 465 Remedios St, Malate, Manila, 1000 Metro Manila

Café Kulture
Looking for a coffee date spot that’s IG-worthy? Café Kulture may be small but the classy gold and wood look creates a homey but elegant set-up for a coffee date. Their drinks are served not in the typical tall glasses either, making them look a little more like cocktails. Their doughnuts are quite interesting too with their Cookie Butter doughnut being the most eye-catching. But for drinks, we suggest either the spiced Cinnamon Oat Latté or their sweet Banana Biscoff Latté.
Café Kulture is currently located at R132, Greenhills, South Wing, N. Western St, Greenhills Shopping Center, Greenhills, San Juan, 1503 Metro Manila.

High Grounds Café
For the gamer parents who found love through video games, High Grounds Café is the one for you! Besides being known as a stadium for holding online gaming tournaments, the interior is quite spacious and bright, especially with its high ceiling and warm white spotlights. While they have classic creations like the Espresso Con Panna, their handcrafted creations like the Creme Brulee Latté and the Hazelnut Brittle are worth trying too!
And if you just want to relive the good ‘ol dating days where you used to “trash talk” each other when playing DOTA and League of Legends, they do offer computer rentals too.
High Grounds is currently located at 67 Sct. Rallos St, Diliman, Quezon City, 1103 Metro Manila.

Fat Seed Café and Roastery
Open with two branches, Fat Seed Café and Roastery is like an all-day brunch place. Their dishes consist of pasta like their Hotate Soy Cream Pasta, their rich Shakshuka, and the hearty and filling TFS Signature Porkchop which they serve with either quinoa or rice. But what we like about their place is that they also have interesting creations like their Manuka Honey Latté and their Wake n’ Shake. So, it’s pretty good if we want strong coffee with a nice brunch-like meal.
Fat Seed Café and Roastery has two branches: one in BGC and another in One Ayala.

ST. ALi
Australian-based popular brunch nook St. Ali’s opened their first branch in Opus Mall, offering various coffee creations and brunch meals. So, if we’re looking for something refreshing, the fruity Mango Passion Fruit Granola Bowl. But their coffee creations are just as good with the whiskey-infused and honey-tasting Not Guinness being the Barista’s suggestion (and for a good reason!) and the Nutella-esque Winter Freddo.
Coffee Dates: The Dates When Most Heart-to-Heart Talks Happen
During our dating days, we’ll probably remember that we learned the most about someone over a cup of coffee. Whether it’s because the caffeine made them high enough to ramble or they crashed from said caffeine thus loosening their tongue, coffee dates are probably one of the dates we remember more. We may have not spent much and it may not have been fancy but, it was when times were simpler and we could focus more on the conversation than anything else.
