Daryl Ong Marries R&B With Nursery Rhymes For His Son Arlan!

What’s a musician dad to do when his son’s all about nursery rhymes at his age? Here’s what Daryl Ong did for his son!

Babies don’t really have a particular song choice until they get older. Most of the time, we hear nursery rhymes like “Ring Around The Rosie,” “Itsy Bitsy Spider,” or the worldwide sensation, “Baby Shark“. However, it does get tiring to listen to the same song over and over again. But when you’re a producer and recording artist like celebrity dad Daryl Ong, there’s a way to remix those nursery rhymes into something more fun. His latest nursery rhyme appears to be Itsy Bitsy Spider, adding some beats to make it more playful.

Adding more joy and learning to nursery rhymes

We already know that babies learn through classical music pieces like Mozart. But when we want something more fun and joyful to fill the house, nursery rhymes are the way to go! The upbeat and child-like singing adds more joy and fun to the room but the rhythm and melody help babies develop their ability to speak. The smoother the rhythm, beat, and melody, the more they learn.

While most parents would sing along with their baby, Daryl Ong takes it to the next level by crafting bespoke remixes for his son. The album for these nursery rhymes is even titled, “Arlan’s Nursery Rhythms,” which he’s been posting on his Instagram. He already has six tracks: Ako Ay May Lobo, Bahay Kubo, The Alphabet Song, Tatlong Bibe, and Wheels on D Bus, including Itsy Bitsy Spider. The cutest part of this album debut is that even his wife, Dean, and his son, Arlan, join in the fun of producing the videos!

Revamping traditional songs to fit the modern day

Nursery rhymes are traditional pieces, with most of them being passed down via oral tradition. Although some of these pieces had darker intentions, today, they are always on our babies’ airwaves. As parents, we may know these songs by heart but there’s a part of us that gets tired of listening to them, too. It’s why Baby Shark broke records; it’s catchy, new, and fun. By revamping these nursery rhymes for Arlan, Daryl Ong may have just created a newfound appreciation in parents for these songs.
