Dimples Romana on Callie: “She is My Anchor and Compass.”
The long-distance relationship between Dimples Romana and her daughter Callie is proof that love can grow despite the separation.
It’s never easy for a parent to let go of their child, but we know and slowly accept that our child’s dreams outweigh our wish for them to stay. When celebrity mom Dimples Romana posted her selfies with Callie, she wrote a heartwarming letter that echoes the feelings of many of us who had to let a child leave the nest. “It is true when they say that no love is more powerful than the one you have set free yet still returns and makes their way back to you,” she writes.
Dimples Romana on staying grounded
As a pilot, Callie, affectionately known as “Capt” by the celebrity mom, has a lot of flights — both solo and night flights. A fickle but 24/7 schedule, it’s one that Callie worked with to make sure she could make it home for her youngest brother, Elio’s, fiesta birthday bash. And although she had to resume her work soon after, Dimples holds the feelings that Callie’s return left behind.
“The house felt warmer. Somehow, the light was brighter. The colors were more vibrant. You completed us. Me. Thank you for making time for us,” Dimples Romana adds.
The celebrity mom also admits to being secretly “clingy” but what kind of parent isn’t? Especially since Callie will always be her first child, Dimples’ bond with Callie is nothing short of magical, as she cites how her eldest “came through” when she felt she was “losing her way.”
“But she is my anchor and my compass. And whenever I lose my grip and way — I need her close to me. And she came through,” Dimples confides.

The joy and love of seeing your kids fly on their own
Eventually, our kids will grow up and lead their own lives. While it’s scary at first, there’s also joy and love in watching them grow to become their own person. All the days we spent teaching them and watching them grow manifest the moment they leave the nest. And although Callie may spend much of her time in the skies, the bond between her and Dimples assures her that she still has a home on the ground should she need to rest her wings.
