Disney fans, especially those who love Tangled, can officially get excited. The live-action version of Tangled is finally happening.

On Thursday, January 8, Disney announced that Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim have been cast as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider in the upcoming live-action adaptation of the beloved 2010 animated film.

Who Are Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim?

If Teagan Croft’s name sounds new to some fans, her résumé is already impressively packed. The Australian actress is best known for her role as White Raven on DC Universe and HBO Max’s Titans, and she previously starred in the sci-fi film The Osiris Child. With her mix of strength and warmth, Croft feels like a natural fit for Disney’s spirited princess with magical hair.

Milo Manheim, meanwhile, is no stranger to the Disney family. He rose to fame as Zed in the wildly popular Zombies franchise, which has become a favorite among tweens and teens. Parents may also recognize him from Season 27 of Dancing With the Stars, where his charm won over audiences.

Manheim confirmed the news himself by sharing a clip of the announcement on Instagram—an exciting moment for fans who grew up watching him on screen.

Tangled Comes to Life—At Last

The casting news confirms that Disney’s long-rumored Tangled live-action remake is officially moving forward, following reports in 2024 that the studio was developing the project.

Original Tangled star Zachary Levi, who voiced Flynn Rider, has previously shared his enthusiasm about seeing the story reimagined in live action. He’s even suggested that he and Mandy Moore—the original voice of Rapunzel—could appear as the characters’ parents. Levi has also said he once envisioned Timothée Chalamet as Flynn, while Moore shared that she’d love to see Sabrina Carpenter play Rapunzel.

For now, though, the lantern has officially been passed.

Released in 2010, Tangled is Disney’s animated retelling of the classic Rapunzel fairy tale, following a sheltered young woman and a charming rogue as they set off on an adventure that leads her closer to her true family—and, ultimately, to love.
