Easy Halloween Costume Ideas for Kids 2023
Here are some easy Halloween costume ideas for kids to earn more candy this 2023.
Some of us don’t like spending on Halloween costumes for our kids because they’ll only wear it once and outgrow it next year — in both interest and size. But we still want them to enjoy their Halloween! So to achieve a good return on investment and watch our kids have fun, some of us would buy clothes that can serve as components for the Halloween costume instead. That way, they can still wear it even if Halloween’s over. For 2023, here are some easy Halloween costume ideas for our kids!
1. Little Red Riding Hood
The fairytale never specified what exactly Little Red Riding Hood was wearing. But she did have her signature red hood. With a red wooly hooded cardigan, we can dress our little girls as the titular character while having them wear a little dress. The best part is that we can still use the red hooded cardigan for their Christmas outfit or when they go to cold countries abroad for family trips.
2. Sherlock Holmes
Although there’s the typical tartan hat and cloak, Sherlock Holmes often wore a variety of disguises. But some of the contemporary depictions of the peerless detective include a white button-up, a waistcoat, a necktie, slacks, and some leather shoes. All these costume pieces can be used again and all we need to add is the detective’s cap or a bowler hat.
3. Hogwarts Student
With many of us growing up on Harry Potter, Hogwarts student robes are available almost everywhere! Once we buy that, the kids can wear other things underneath. But for a more authentic Halloween costume, Hogwarts students often wore a white button-up, a gray sweater vest, black leather shoes, and gray slacks or skirts. They can use everything, including the black leather shoes, which we can repurpose as their school shoes!
4. Coffee Barista
All they need is a white polo, jeans, some rubber shoes, and an apron with your favorite coffee shop. Most coffee shops have their brands printed on aprons which are easy to replicate by downloading the logo and finding a printing shop to print the logo on the apron. And if we’re fond of collecting some coffee shop merchandise, the kids can go around carrying it as part of their costume.
5. Cocomelon
Since kids love Cocomelon, they won’t mind dressing up as the toon’s namesake character. It’s perfect for babies who just need a light-blue onesie. The best part is, they can still use the onesie when they go out or sleep at home. Some online shops do sell the onesie if we’re not in the mood to DIY the costume ourselves.
6. Dora The Explorer
Our kids most likely have bright colors in their closet already so, all they need is a pink top, orange shorts, white rubber shoes, and a purple backpack. Put it together, they’re Dora the Explorer! For the boys, they can dress up as Diego but they need a khaki vest to match with their blue shirt and green shorts which they can still use as separate pieces.
7. Our favorite athlete!
Filipinos love basketball so, it’s going to be easy to find our favorite basketball player’s jersey in costume shops. Whether it’s Ateneo, La Salle, or even those from the NBA, there will always be basketball jerseys available in our kids’ sizes. They already come as a set which they can also use in case they want to play basketball themselves.
And for those who love soccer, they have some soccer jerseys available in online stores.
There are a lot of fun and easy kids’ Halloween costumes!
We hesitate to invest a lot of money in our kids’ Halloween costumes because we know how quickly they can grow out of it. But what we believe is more important are the memories that accompany the costume. Although it’ll only be used once, it’s the memories they spend in the costume we know that are worth more than the money we spend on the costume.
