Many Filipinos are enlisting in the defense force to serve the country or as a reservist

How does one show love for the country? Some Filipinos show that by buying local products while some enlist as reservists in the defense force.

Make no mistake. Training for 30 days is a grueling task. We round up some of the Filipino celebrity parents who enlisted as a reservist in the Arm Forces of the Philippines.

Dingdong Dantes

Dingdong Dantes is a busy actor, producer, and host these days. Dong, who appeared with wife Marian Rivera for Modern Parenting’s Mother’s Day/Father’s Day issue is also a board member of Aktor and a reservist for the Philippine Navy.

Rocco Nacino

Rocco graduated his Basic Citizen Military course back in 2019 and is a reservist under the Philippine Navy.

Geneva Cruz

Actress and singer Geneva Cruz is a reservist for the Philippine Air Force and was given the Laang Kawal Special Recognition Award in 2023.

Winwyn Marquez

Before she became a mom, beauty queen, and actress Winwyn Marquez completed a course for the Philippine Naval Reserve Command.

Jessa Zaragoza and Dingdong Avanzado

Power couple Jessa Zaragoza and Dingdong Avanzado are not just singers. They have also enlisted themselves as part of the Philippine Army reservists.

Lucy Torres Gomez

Lucy was given the honorary rank of Auxiliary Commodore by the Philippine Coast Guard in 2022. She also holds a Master Sergeant rank with the Marine Reserves. Her husband, congressman and actor Richard Gomez has the rank of Chief Petty Officer with the Navy.

Christopher de Leon

Actor Christopher de Leon is a reservist with the Philippine Navy with the rank of Chief Petty Officer.

Vilma Santos

Star for All Seasons Ms. Vilma Santos Recto is a reservist for the Philippine Air Force in 2012, holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

JC De Vera

June cover star JC de Vera may have played a soldier in the General’s Daughter but he’s also a reservist with the Philippine Navy in real life. Speaking to Modern Parenting, he shared that he always wanted to be a soldier as a child.

“I don’t why but I realized na kaya gusto ko pala maging soldier is gusto ko mag-give ng service to the country,” he said.

JC Tiuseco

Another JC is part of the Philippine Navy Reservist. JC Tiuseco, best known for winning Survivor Philippines holds the rank of private officer.

Nadia Montenegro

At 52, actress Nadia Montenegro proved that one can still serve the country. She recently graduated as a Navy Reservist.
