Make a Difference: Get Registered to Vote NOW!
Parents, we know you’re up to your ears in homeschooling, trying out bone broth fasting and (barely) surviving raising two under two — but it’s time you got registered to vote! Yep, it’s best to get it done before the holiday rush starts; just in case 2020 decides to take a turn for the worst (fingers crossed it doesn’t, obviously)…
Why you need to register to vote NOW
If you haven’t yet, now’s a good time to get registered to vote. Yep, this month, September, marks the start of voter’s registration for the May 2022 elections in the Philippines. Plus, the early bird always gets the worm (the right votes), right?
How do I get registered?
It’s easy peasy.
First, check your qualifications:
You must be:
- A Filipino citizen
- At least 18 years old on May 9, 2022
- A resident of the Philippines for at least one year
- A resident of the place where you intend to vote for at least 6 months
But it’s COVID-19! Is it safe?
You’ll need to prep the following:
- Mask
- Face shield
- Handwash or alcohol-based hand sanitizer
- Pen
Come with ALL the requirements
If you’re a first-time voter, you’ll need one of the following valid IDs and a photocopy:
- Driver’s license
- IBP ID
- NBI clearance
- Passport
- Postal ID
- PRC ID
- PWD ID
- School ID or library card (for students)
- Senior Citizen ID
- SSS/GSIS ID/UMID
- Certificate of Confirmation from the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP)
Fill out the forms
- Download the registration form at comelec.gov.ph
- Print and input the required information
- Don’t sign the forms yet! They need to be signed in the presence of an election officer!
Head to your nearest registration venue
Whether you choose a local COMELEC office or a satellite registration booth in your district, either will work. Psst… there are satellite registration booths in malls too!
Remember, the earlier you register, the better! And the process is pretty straightforward, so there’s no guesswork there. Don’t forget our helpful reminders and stay safe!
