Isko Moreno on the Rule He Disobeyed With Regard to His Family
Former Manila mayor Isko Moreno talked to Boy Abunda about the one rule he disobeyed regarding his time with his wife Dynee and their kids.
Isko Moreno dropped by on Boy Abunda’s Fast Talk show on Monday, July 3 where he talked about returning full-time to showbiz as a host of the revamped Eat Bulaga and about his family life.
During the conversation, Boy brought up his interview with the former Manila mayor’s wife Dynee on the one rule he disobeyed about their family and about supporting his son Joaquin, who is now a father.
Isko Moreno on the one rule he disobeyed
When asked about the rule, Isko mentioned that it was time with Dynee and their kids that he had to disobey regarding their relationship. “A normal father especially with kids would spare and spend time [with] the family. it’s just that in fairness to Dynee, we got together I was already in public service.”
“Alam mo yung gustung-gusto mo baguhin yung buhay nung tao but at the same time, may responsibilidad ka sa pamilya mo. Ang laging pamantayan ko noon at lagi kong sinasabi ito kay Dynee ay tumutulo ba yung bubong natin? Hindi. May grocery ba tayo? Nakakapag-aral ba yung mga bata? Yung okay tayo. So let me try to change yung buhay nung pinaglilingkuran ko and to reach as many people as possible. And that I give it Dynee because siya talaga yung maraming oras para sa mga anak namin.”
At the same time, Isko was also asked about his support for his son Joaquin. In his interview, Joaquin said that he was advised by his mom and dad to not rush into getting married.
“They’re too young,” Isko said referring to Joaquin and his partner Raffa Castro. “It’s not about the love or the relationship. You think it over. But in the meantime, you have to be responsible for another mouth.”
Isko confirmed to Modern Parenting in July 2022 that he was a grandfather to Joaquin and Raffa’s son Scott.
On hosting Eat Bulaga
Last month, Isko returned to television this time as one of the new hosts of the revamped Eat Bulaga. Isko joined Paolo Contis, Buboy Villar, Betong Sumuya, and other stars such as Cassy and Mavy Legaspi after the departure of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon due to a fallout with TAPE Inc.
Like what he said last Saturday, Isko said the audience is the winner with three noontime shows to choose from.
“I’m humbled and honored to fill in to the vacuum. It’s very challenging. S’yempre mga beteranong komedyante ang mga iyan (Vice Ganda and TVJ), nakakapagpasaya ng mga tao. So malaking sapatos ang ating pupunan natin.”
Isko said that he along with the other artists and members of the show are trying to come up with more ideas to entertain viewers. He also said that his segment G sa Gedli in the show is close to his heart.
The segment will show Isko interviewing random Filipino citizens to get to know them and give them a platform to share their stories.
And with all the excitement of July 1, Isko simply reminded his co-hosts that they were already making history. “Guys, I’ve seen so many failures in life. I’ve seen success. I’ve seen challenges. But one good thing about today [is] we’re going to be part of history.”
“Enjoy it. You were asked to be part of the show because you have a certain talent in a specific field. Excel from it.”
Eat Bulaga airs from Monday to Saturday on GMA.
