Jaclyn Jose’s Onscreen Kids Grieve Over Her Passing

Following the news and confirmation of Jaclyn Jose’s death, several young actors and actresses who shared on-screen time posted tributes to the 2016 Cannes Best Actress.

Several actors and actresses paid tribute to Jaclyn Jose after her daughter, actress and celebrity mom Andi Eigenmann confirmed her death due to cardiac arrest on Monday, March 4. The actress died on March 2.

Among those who paid tribute were actors and actresses who shared screen time with her or played her children on television and film.

Kylie Padilla

Kylie Padilla shared a photo of her and Jaclyn, who played her mom in the teleserye Bolera in 2022.

“Still crying. I keep hearing your voice in my head. I remember our heart-to-heart conversations under the stars sa taping ng Bolera,” she wrote. “We talked about motherhood. Life. And love. I loved your energy. I remember the scenes sa bolera na di tayo makapagpigil ng kakatawa kasi ganun ka kasaya kasama.”

“Thank you for being [not just a] mom to me but also being a friend to me. It’s only a comfort that I saw you last night in my dreams smiling, I got a sense that you were at peace wherever you were. And that’s what you deserve. RIP Tita Jane.”

Alden Richards

Alden Richards is also in disbelief that the woman he shared scenes several times on screen in Mundo Mo’y Sa Akin is gone. “My heart aches like a son who lost his mom… You will be with me always. I love you my tita Jane,” he wrote.

Gladys Reyes

Gladys Reyes, who starred with Jaclyn in the movie Apag, shared a reel of their time while doing the movie.

Nakakagulat, nabigla tayong lahat.

Iza Calzado

Iza recalled the first time she met the actress when she was starting her career. “I still remember the first time I saw you in 2002 or 2003 in GMA. There was a shoot with all of the artists and you were standing in line like everyone else. I looked at you and immediately wanted to hug you because you reminded me of my mom who I just lost in 2001. Tisay and a bit short but had an intensity and mystery about you that just gave off a ‘Wag mo akong subukan.’ Kind of energy.”

“As luck would have it, you ended up playing my mother in Te Amo, Maging Sino Ka Man. I had the opportunity to work with you a few more times and the last long one was my first series in ABS-CBN, Kahit Puso’y Masugatan.”

“You treated me like a daughter and I looked up to you as a mentor and mother. Jane Guck or Nanay Jane I would fondly call you. Our shared love for tequila and rockstars made us click. You were both generous and kind with your words of encouragement and support be it on or off cam. You were also very stern when you needed to be. That’s one of the best things about you — napakatotoo mo.”

Iza also sent her condolences to Andi.

Katrina Halili

Katrina also paid tribute to Jaclyn two weeks before her death. “Thank you, Tita Jane, dinalaw mo pa ako 2 weeks ago para i comfort ako, salamat sa mahigpit na yakap, oras at pagmamahal. Rest in peace mahal kita!”

Andrea Torres

GMA actress Andrea Torres also recalled her moments with the actress whom she did three teleseryes with.

A brilliant actress and a brilliant mother, lagi ko ngang sinasabi sayo.

I love you Nay Jane. Pahinga ka na po.”

Claudine Barretto

Claudine, who played Via in Mula sa Puso shared a photo of her and Jaclyn with the late director Wenn Deramas.

“I’m in unbearable pain. Everything is painful. You lived 11 houses down from my house. I will miss you coming up to my room tulog ako tatabihan mo ako. Kakantahan at Patatahanin.”

She adds, “Kinabukasan may mainit na sabaw iaakyat ni Yaya Ging sakin. I love you sobra nay.

An Acting Icon

Born Mary Jane Guck, Jaclyn started her career in the 80s in several films. She was also known for playing Magda in the hit ABS-CBN drama Mula sa Puso starring Claudine Barretto.

But it would be in 2016 that she would make history when she became the first Filipino and Southeast Asian actress to win recognition for acting in Brillante Mendoza’s Ma Rosa. The film starred her daughter Andi as well.

Aside from Andi, she has a son, Gwen from a previous relationship.

On Tuesday, March 5, Andi posted a short poem dedicated to her mom in Filipino.
