Veteran Actress Jaclyn Jose Passes Away

(UPDATED) Beloved for her roles as the antagonist (kontrabida), celebrity Jaclyn Jose’s death is a shock to many who have worked alongside her. She was 60 years old.

Celebrity Jaclyn Jose has made her mark on the entertainment world as the kontrabida in many beloved shows. Her acting has garnered her various awards including five Gawad Urian, two Luna Awards, and a FAMAS Award. With celebrity mom Andi Eigenmann confirming her mom’s cause of death as a heart attack, many of Jaclyn’s colleagues in the industry such as Kylie Padilla, Ezekiel Miller, and Archie Alemania confirmed the actress’ passing.

A heartbreaking loss

Unfortunately, the late veteran actress had not yet retired from the limelight. According to Jaclyn Jose, she was still finishing her two-year contract with GMA. Her most recent film was Vivamax’s Tahan, where she played the mom to Cloe Barreto’s character, Elisse.

Jaclyn Jose’s death has affected many. Many of the late actress’ colleagues had posted photos of them acting or being in an event together. Kylie Nicole Padilla, her on-screen daughter in GMA’s Bolera series, posted a photo of her lying on the celebrity mom’s lap while writing the caption, “YOU WILL BE MISSED. 💔”

Actor, host, comedian, dancer, and dad Archie Alemania posted a touching tribute to Jaclyn, recalling a memory when they trapped themselves in a fire exit stairwell while going out to smoke. “Nagpapasalamat ako at naging kaibigan kita, ninang, mentor, kainuman, kakwentuhan, komedyante rin sa ating mga kwentuhan,” he writes mournfully. “You will be missed Tita jane. Di na tayo nakapag last two bottles. Paalam ninang. 😢”

Jaclyn Jose had also once opened up about children not being a retirement plan, sparking quite a discourse on social media.

Farewell to a legend

The late actress’ management also confirmed with an official statement, revealing that both the Eigenmann and the Guck family are requesting “prayers and privacy.”

The late actress Jaclyn Jose has become a mother in many ways. Besides being a single mother to both Andie Eigenmann and Gwen Garimond, many actors found comfort and wisdom in her presence. When one finds a mentor in the critical entertainment industry, there’s a lightening of a burden knowing that someone. They’ll teach the technicalities and ins and outs of the industry, just like how Jaclyn did for Ez Miller who posted a “shoutout” for her and Coco Martin’s support.
