Jolina Magdangal And Marvin Agustin Play An Ex-Couple In JP Habac’s Ex Ex Lovers
The 90s love team is back and play ex-partners whose daughter is about to get married!
MarJo fans finally got their dream come true to see Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin together again on the big screen! On Wednesday, the trailer for the much-anticipated film Ex Ex Lovers, directed by JP Habac was released and we all feel that kilig again!
Same kilig but a different attack
In the trailer, Marvin and Jolina play Ced and Joy, an ex-couple who reunite as their daughter SC (Loisa Andalio) is engaged to Joey (Juan Karlos). Fearing SC is about to make a mistake, Joy travels to Europe to convince Ced to help her postpone their daughter’s wedding. As they prepare for their daughter’s wedding, Ced and Joy reflect on what went wrong on their relationship and wonder if they can fix things between them again.
The trailer gives good vibes, paying tribute to some of the most memorable lines from their past films, including the iconic phrase “chuva choo choo,” and cameo appearances from Judy Ann Santos, Mylene Dizon, Dominic Ochoa, and Sam Milby. Coincidentally, Loisa and Juan Karlos’ characters are named after Marvin and Jolina’s characters from the 90’s teen-oriented show Gimik.
The much awaited comeback
Before Ex Ex Lovers, fans have been clamoring for the two to do a project since their last appearance in Flordeliza. Last year, it was formally announced that the two will be working on a film to be produced by Antoinette Jadaone. A teaser trailer was released last month.
In an interview with Modern Parenting , Marvin and Jolina are aware that fans have been looking forward to seeing them again on screen, especially as a new generation of fans got to know them through social media.
“Nakakatuwa kasi itong younger generation, may time, effort and focus na gumawa ng mga ganito,” Marvin said referring to the clips from their past movies posted on TikTok.
“We’re thankful. We’re happy. Pati ako kinikilig sa mga pinaggagawa nila using our old clips from our movies and making them into a reel or edited content.”
The two have also expressed in doing a romantic comedy if ever they do a project.
“We’d really like to do romantic comedy. If there’s any particular genre we’d like to dabble in, it’s that. And we would like the audience to be yung mga kinalakihan ng tandem namin and of course, the young audience who will get to know us for the first time. Sinabi namin na if we will do a comeback project, it should have that vibe. So that’s the script we’re working on,” Marvin quipped.
And it’s finally happening! Ex Ex Lovers is scheduled for release on February 12.
