Katarina Rodriguez on the Essence of a Woman Following the Birth of Her Son
Beauty queen, model, and actress, Katarina Rodriguez, gave birth to her and Niño Barbers’ son Robert Joaquin last August 25 via water birth.
In case you didn’t know, Miss World Philippines 2018 Katarina Rodriguez is now a mom. She recently gave birth to her son, Robert Joaquin Barbers, her child with partner Niño Barbers last August 25.
Katarina chose to do a water birth method and shared the video on her YouTube account last November 14.
Katarina Rodriguez on the Essence of a Woman
On November 15, Katarina shared several Instagram posts about her birthing journey.
In the first post, she recalled the times she rehearsed answers to the famous Miss Universe question, “What is the essence of a woman?”
“I remember practicing this question for two years straight due to my pageant career. I was never really convinced of my own answer to this question until [the] early morning of August 25, 2021,” she said.
“What’s the essence of a woman? Her POWER. Power to rule her mind and her body. Power to overcome [the] pain that feels like death but in turn births life. The power to do whatever it is she puts her mind to,” she wrote.
She thanked several people including her doula, friends, and actresses Max Collins and Coleen Garcia, who shared their experiences about doing a water birth.
A Woman is an Ocean of Her Own
In another post, Katarina compared her experience to the elements of earth, water, fire, and air. Comparing the experience related to water, she wrote: “Contractions are often compared to as sets of waves. I thought of the sets that occur while surfing, trying to catch a wave or survive when you get caught in a set. But then I realized a woman giving birth isn’t experiencing these waves, but rather she is like the ocean, the waves are a part of her. The pain and relaxation or every contraction and rest in between is an extension of the mother.”
“Surrendering to my own body reminded me of how Mother Nature calls on the ocean to have episodes like that of giving birth, raging sets of waves, then calm, steady rests in between. I’ll keep this thought forever, a woman is an ocean of her own.”
Katarina and Niño announced the pregnancy back in August. Congratulations to the couple!
