LIST: Art Exhibits That Families Can Visit in Metro Manila This 2023

Here are some art exhibits that families can visit in Metro Manila!

“A picture speaks a thousand words” — an old saying for most artworks. What more with an art exhibit? It’s like reading a large picture book! It’s an enormous opportunity for children to develop critical thinking and an appreciation for the arts as they examine the art strokes, how subjects are positioned, the palette choices, and more. Besides, life isn’t just all about numbers and words. Time to add some splashes of color with these art exhibits in Metro Manila!

Hosted by Galleria Paloma, the Stop. Motion Exhibit by Carlos Rocha will be running from July 7 to 9, 2023 at the North Court, Powerplant Mall at Rockwell. His works, according to Galleria Paloma’s founders, Georgia Rocha-Chu and Mia Rocha-Lauchengco, call families to “stop and smell the flowers” with his bright colors and alfresco scenes.

But in this art exhibit, he’ll also be showcasing one of his first media: sculptures. One that he wishes to inspire families with the “nobility and pride of work.”

Instead of spending hundreds of thousands to visit Rome, families only need to spend PHP 650 (on weekdays), PHP 750 (on weekends), or PHP 3,000 (if you’re a family of six) to see the replicas of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel frescoes from June to September 2023. This art exhibit also triggers an immersive experience by filling the halls with scents that were prevalent at the time Michelangelo painted the frescoes and with songs that praised the hallowed grounds.

Juan Luna has always been a big part of Philippine history, especially for his famed work, the “Spolarium.” However, the Ayala Museum has recently unveiled what they call the “Holy Grail of Philippine Art” which was known as the “Hymen, oh Hyménée!”. The painting won a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1889. The exhibit will run from June 12 to December 30, 2023.

Besides being the famed mind behind the Mona Lisa, he also developed the golden ratio and the anatomy (via the Vitruvian Man). Along One Bonifacio High Street, families will have a multi-sensory experience of Da Vinci’s creations this August.

More Art Exhibits coming soon!

These art exhibits offer more than just opportunities to learn. They also provide spaces to open up. Art is an expression of the soul and a way to help face emotions that we normally don’t feel comfortable talking about. However, there are many talented individuals who have channeled their emotions into art to create a space for people to discuss the feelings that their work brought out. And for kids, maybe one day their little artworks on the refrigerator may find their way onto the walls of an art gallery!
