When one goes through many challenges, especially in conceiving a child, it can take a toll on a couple. But it was worth the wait for PBA player Kevin Alas and his wife, news personality Selina Dagdag. On Monday, Sept 2, the couple announced the arrival of their daughter Catalina Noelle.
“When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world,” Kevin quoted the verse of John 16:21 from the bible.
“Praise God Selina gave birth to Catalina Noelle via normal delivery at 10:36 pm yesterday,” he continued, confirming the birth on September 1.
Several of their friends congratulated the couple. It was a long time coming for them indeed.
Challenges before Catalina
Before Catalina, the couple documented their experiences with the pregnancy and the challenges before it. In 2022, Selina shared that she suffered from a rare type of cancer called Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia.
“Cancer was my biggest fear. And to have it in my twenties was a big shock for me. But I praise the Lord that He has already made Himself known to me during this season of my life. Back then, I would’ve thought this was a cruel prognosis. I would’ve been bitter, angry, even resentful. But through His grace alone,” she wrote back then.
It was also that year that she and Kevin went through a miscarriage and despite it, they still held on to their faith.
Now, the couple have a bundle of joy and as the saying goes, it was worth the wait. Congratulations Kevin and Selina!
